Io2 sim - it really does work

I finally got around to installing my sim tonight, followed the instructions and it's not working. No light on the sim and CEL still on. I'm not a mechanic but I can follow simple instructions. I did one wire at a time making sure no wire crossed another's path and nothing.

Any suggestions or am I screwed as emissions is due next week.

Anyone in the Chicago area willing to install again? Kevbquick offered but I haven't heard back in 3 weeks so I gave up and did it myself.

Can you post a pic of how you have it wired? I had a problem too and turns out I wired it wrong and it worked fine once I fixed it

I didn't take a pic but I think I figured out the problem. I went through the diagnostics with my MAF unplugged and kept getting DTC errors (I never checked them to see what they were). Once I did check them, I realized what was going on, I plugged in my MAF, cleared all the codes and now my CEL is OFF.

Not all of my sensors were up as I only ran it for a minute but I think the fact my CEL is now off is a good sign.

I will follow up tomorrow after I drive it around. If it still isn't working I'll take it back apart and post a picture.

As long as the light on the io2 is blinking you should be good.

Well my MAF sensor wasn't the only problem. After driving to work today my CEL came back on and I'm getting an O2 error and a cat efficiency error. I haven't checked since, but I didn't have a green light when I installed it but I'll have to check this weekend again and will post pictures.

If worst comes to worst, I bought a used catalytic converter from someone on here, I hope it works if I need to swap them out....any tips/tricks on swapping?

I'm purchasing this kit from Burger, is that all I need?

Not really sure what you need to swap the cats back in I've never done that since I have x drive lol. But just work to get the green light on, a wire might be loose and after install I drove around for 10 miles and the cat was ready. The evap could take a day or two to ready though

I'm not looking forward to swapping the cat back...I haven't done it myself as the car came with this downpipe. I'm worried my post O2 sensor is going to be fried from running such a rich mixture for so long.

I'll try to take it apart and re-connect everything this weekend but I'm planning for the worst.

Garage List
Double check your wiring. If the light blinks, its working. It sometimes takes a few tries as it tries to learn and adapt to your car. I had to reset the light a few times (i think twice) for it to work and its worked ever since. Its been like 4 months now, and I drive with jb4's autoclear off.

The io2 works fine. Worst case, take the car to a professional and have them install it.

I am going to take it apart again tonight but my MIL doesn't seem to be available (jb4 has been off for two weeks) and I still have an O2 code. Any idea what could be causing my MIL to not be available?

Update - rechecked connections and I now have a green light. It was hooked up correctly but there must have been poor contact somewhere. Now when I check I have a DTC code for mass air flow sensor so I cleared it and now my check engine light is unavailable, and only 4 sensors are active.

Thoughts a to why the CEL is not "on" when the scanner is trying to read it?

You may have to drive around for a few days before all your monitors appear as ready. Some states will allow a certain amount to be in "not ready" status. Also make sure to switch your jb4 to map 0 and disable auto code clear.

So my green light no longer stays on, on my way to work a new DTC popped up and I checked the sim only to find the green light off. I'm now getting a p112f code

Update:

I took my car to the emissions testing facility today and somehow passed. My EVAP was still not set after 3 days of daily driving and I had 1 non emissions code p112f).
This thing actually works!
