F30 M sport bumper retrofit
Hello all, new to posting here but long time reader. Anyways, I recently purchased an F30 and thought id be smart and save some money by not getting the sport package thinking I could just easily remove and put on whatever bumper I wanted to. Turned out to be a mistake .
I currently have the base bumper and want to retrofit the sport bumper. I read a DIY that was posted here and it looked very involved, having to change out the deformation elements, drilling riviets, ect. My question is, why do the kits on ebay from Selma look so basic and easy to instal, not requiring the major job of changing the deformation elements? How is the bumper attaching to the lower bumper support without the correct deformation elements? Would the bumper not be very unstable during driving if it is not correctly mounted? I am really for the idea of saving a ton of money by buying the Selma bumper however I do not want to sacrifice stability. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks! |

Anyone? I called Selma and they said the bumpers were designed to fit sportline f30's that did not originally come with the M-sport bumper and that they wouldn't fit a non-sportline f30. Can anyone confirm this?

I received the bumper a couple days ago. Selma was wrong, it is literally a clone of the oem m-sport bumper. Basically if you want it to fit correctly you need to change the deformation elements (major PITA).
