Changing alloy wheels
Hi guys,
I am currently running the 18" MV3 alloys with Bridgestone runflats all over. It really like the 313 style 19" alloys. I don't want to have two sets of alloy wheels and not sure how best to go about the upgrade. Are there places I can trade my alloys in + top up in cash and have the 313 alloys instead? Does such a place exist? I see a set being sold for £1000 in the classifieds but I feel like it's a big commitment for £1000 and still having my alloys to deal with as they aren't small parts. It feels like an impossible task to upgrade alloys for someone that has no experience in this. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, |

I know that Mark at BM Autosport might take your wheels in as a part exchange if your looking at a new set of wheels wheels/tyres, but don't expect any thing like the amount you've mentioned, he will factor in that they will require re-furbing etc.

I'm a fair distance from you (Lincoln) but if you just want an easy option of unbolt old alloys complete with tyres/bolt on new alloys complete with tyres then drive away you might think that's worth a morning of driving over/back again - certainly a lot easier than buying an extra set then storage problems while trying to get rid of the old ones etc. Anyway if you're interested send me some details of your alloys/tyres - eg tread depth of each tyre (inner/outer/middle tread reading would be good if not totally even wear), have the alloys ever been refurbished? any scrapes etc? Ps not interested in swapping if they've ever been cracked/welded. I'm afraid my 313s do have a bit of curbing, previous owner scraped them up a bit but no refurbs/cracks on them (hold air pressure no problem). One of the rear alloys was replaced by BMW November 2015 due to crack. Would need to check tyre tread but probably 6-7mm on all four (all standard BMW Bridgestone runflats) so a fair bit of value in the tyres given the cost of a full set of these 19 inch runflats. Send me a PM if you want my details to swap info re alloy condition etc then make me a your alloys+cash offer to consider. Ps I use ATS for switching my alloys over/storing my winter wheels, if we go ahead with this would be quick and easy to just go there and let them swap things over. thanks |
