Broke my rear shock, what to replace with?
Hey!
I was doing some stuff with my car today and i probably torqued the lower threaded part of passenger side shock too much and since it was rusted it snapped off.. What should i order? I need car back asap as its my only way to move here.. I have currently hartge sports suspension (hartge lowering springs + bilstein shocks) Am i good with just replacing both rear shocks or should i replace front aswell? Are these good choices that should fit with my lowering springs or something else? Rear only: https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E92-33...cks/ES2831166/ Front + Rear: https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E92-33...cks/ES2525230/ Springs: staying with hartges that i currently have (i think they are rebranded eibachs) They seemed to be in pretty good condition |

I don't see why you can't replace only the rear shocks. Just make sure you replace both units.
If you know your fronts are almost done, then get those done too if financially permitting. Just curious, but how much would shipping of 2 rear shocks cost you if you were to order from ECS? |

with lowering springs. I couldnt really find anything but OEM replacement shocks from here so thats why i looked up from ECS, shipping for 2 rear shocks to finland would cost approximately 80dollars and would take 5days to arrive. |

That shipping cost is not so bad considering they are going to Finland.
However to ship to Canada across the border it's $50 for the same two shocks. ECS just doesn't like us Canadians. |

Problem solved
Ended up removing all shocks and springs and after inspecting them
i decided to order: - KONI SPORTS https://www.ecstuning.com/ES518057/ (after reading few hours of shocks, i got the picture that these should be pretty decent choice to go with lowering springs) - Strut And Shock Mount Refresh Kit https://www.ecstuning.com/ES3027370/ (some of the old rubbers were totally destroyed) Keeping old springs for now, all of them looked pretty good. Also what i noticed was that when i pushed my old rear shocks to fully in and released them, the passenger side was rebounding twice as fast the drivers side, is this also mark for wear or? Anyways, my case should be solved now. Thanks |

One more question
I was reading more about these koni yellows that i ordered
and i read that they do not have internal built bump stops like bilsteins that i currently have. So after reading several posts about these, i ordered e36 m3 bump stops for front. My question is mostly about rear bump stops: Can i use these bump stops with koni "yellows" sports in the rear? That i had on rear bilsteins. I measured them exactly 6cm tall (2.36inches) Are these too tall/short or should i be good with re-using these? I dont wanna damage new shocks with having wrong bumpstops. Thanks! |

I just replaced my rear non-sport shocks with low mileage M-Sport shocks and my front are still non-sport (and with about 50k more miles on them) and I kept the non-sport springs. It's hard to tell the shocks are different, unless you had just driven the car before they were installed. This was the first time DIYing my shocks and I gotta say I felt like I was going to overtorque that bottom shock nut. I had my torque wrench set to 28ft lbs (looked it up on e90) and I felt like I was gonna snap the damn thing off so I backed off a bit and just got until it felt tight. You can kind of feel when something doesn't want to be turned anymore. |
