eospeed N55 intake manifold

http://www.eospeed.com/products/copy...ake-manifold-2

I discovered this intake manifold currently in development. They currently have one for the N54. I know that larger intake plenums are a popular thing among tuners, but I do not know the effect. I haven't been able to definitively find good answers on how a larger intake manifold affects performance in a turbocharged vehicle, but do know that the intake manifold is very specifically tuned for torque, HP, and where they peak.

Seeing as this is a nearly $1500 product, I have a few questions that I'm hoping some of the sponsors or forum members here can answer:

1. Does a larger intake manifold do anything for horsepower or torque with a stock turbocharger?

2. What type of mods would something like this benefit from most?

3. Is this a product geared more towards people who have already heavily modified their engine?

This is basically a cast version of the stock manifold. It adds the peace of mind that you wont blow up the plastic IM. It also has PI in it which is nice. If you are anything less than Pure stage 2 turbo, this is not for you.

Waste of money. Much added weight, plus PI can be tapped safely into a the robust composite stock manifold anyway.

The composite stock manifold probably wouldn't blow apart from pressure until about 33-35psi.

Lol no one it tapping PI into the stock manifold. They all are on a spacer. Plus multiple people have blown holes into the stock IM due to meth backfire.

I would think that if a backfire is going to happen, I would rather it be a plastic manifold that blows apart rather than a metal one.

For those interested in our N55/S55 manifold the wait is almost over. We just got a few raw castings in this week. Still need to be machined but it should not be much longer!

Sell us on this. I've been deciding which PI kit to buy for quite a while now. Why should we get this instead of the proven PI kits that are already available?

Well, there are actually quite a few benefits:

1) No more cyl bump out, increased flow pattern over stock
2) Ease of installation, all factory charge pipe locations remain in their normal factory locations
3) No need to introduce another set of gaskets(potential boost leak location)
4) Factory mounting, no need to replace studs
5) Top mount injectors, easily serviceable, easy to hook up a fuel return line if you so wish
6) Injectors centered on cylinder port

I really like idea of the intake manifold staying in the stock position. My chargepipe was already rubbing on one line.

Final machining is not completed yet but it should be roughly 6-7lbs heavier than stock. A small price to pay for the increased benefits and security of a cast manifold.

For those that are saying its a waste of money don't know what they are talking about. Surely enough for a stock production car you won't notice any difference between the two. But if you are FBO, turbos and running meth. You don't want that plastic intake blowing up when you have a meth backfire
