FMIC Question.

I recently purchased a 2011 BMW 335i N55. I ran into a dilemma, the lower charge pipe (intercooler piping) between the turbo and intercooler is cracked. I looked for a replacement, but the only one I found was OEM and the price is 250$ for a small plastic tube. If I'm going to spend 250$ I might as well go with a FMIC. What FMIC kits come with a lower charge pipe replacement or a longer neck to the turbo to eliminate that tube all together? Anyone own the ETS FMIC? Ive read that the neck from the intercooler to the turbo is extended to eliminate this tube? Thanks!

The VRSF kit comes with the extended hose to reach the turbo outlet. You'll have to cut the band clamp that is connected to the hose you are referring to.

ETS does come with the lowe cp, I have it on my personal car.

Many other FMIC options come with the lower CP too, unless they use stock connections. Let me know if you need any other help.

I saw that the ETS has the lower charge pipe connecting the intercooler to the charge pipe connected to the throttle body, but does the ETS come with a lower charge pipe between the turbo and intercooler for the N55? Replace number 9 on this diagram?

It only comes with half of that pipe. You have to snap off the band clamp that connects the 2 segments of that pipe. Hopefully the crack you have is in the lower section that would be discarded. I have been trying to find the entire pipe forever without any success. No one makes one for the E Series cars yet.

See that's my issue, it's cracked where it connects to the turbo. I've saw they make one for the f series n55, I wonder if I could just buy the segment that connects to the turbo for the F30 and use a coupler to the intercooler?

#9 is the pre intercooler pipe. It comes with a silicon coupler and clamp to connect to the factory housing.

Yea that would be an issue as it doesn't replace that.

Maybe it's time to get Turbo outlets at the same time.

No one makes an outlet for the N55. Sales guys. Jeez.

A couple people have gotten the F series pipe to work but they had to buy their own tubing and couplers to complete the lower section. It also doesn't sound like it fits very well. I looked at this on my car and decided against trying it. Tiago@VRSF said they were working on an E Series one a while back. I hope they still are.

I know I wish it was that simple, I would buy in a heartbeat! I just hate having to spend 246$ on a plastic piece. I contacted Tiago about the piece earlier and it is not available yet sadly.

My email exchange 6/13/2016

"I heard awhile back that this was being worked on. I am installing a larger turbo next week and would have loved to install this at the same time. I know that isn't a reality but do you have any estimates on when this will be available?"

"We don't, we put the project on hold for a bit after we got rid of our N55 shop car. We still have the OEM part on hand so we should have a sample ready some time mid summer."

This is where my boost leak is (above 10 psi) and I would love to just replace it but no one makes it. I think I am going to order a second clamp before resorting to other options.

OP call up Evolution Racewerks. They have a turbo to intercooler pipe for the F series. Myself and a few others have made the top section (what connects to the turbo) work. You will need an upgraded IC, 3" pipe and a 60° silicon coupler. Without IC, it cost me around $200.

Just warning you it is a bitch to install and will have to hack up the couplers. You will also need a new gasket for the part that connects to the turbo. I got mine from ECS.
