These are the KW V3 instructions but I haven't received my set yet.

Hi, you're looking at the wrong side of the lower control arm- it's above it, not at the bottom of it. There is an adjustment cutout that is covered by a black plastic shroud/dust cover (careful, it's easy to have it snap off and disappear where the spring mounts into the lower control arm) just push the dust cover very carefully so that it rotates around say 80 degrees to give you access to the valve. (See the red arrow.) Note that each 1/4 rotation (i.e. 90 degrees) is equivalent to one click. I also took that PDF and cut and paste the image that was relevant (and flipped it vertically and horizontally). Have fun.

You know, I could be wrong about the 90 degrees being equivalent to one click, it could be 60 degrees. I left my phone at work tonight and I have that info on the phone. I remember though that it's very hard to feel any "click" on either front or rear compression setting with the K3. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

That's weird because I could hear the click very well for the front compression. Maybe I have a newer design KW V3?

Glad I could help. Maybe bump clicks are new. Here are my notes copy and pasted from my phone:

Quote:
KW Settings:

All settings are ~from~ full tight (closed). Note: A click is approx. 60 *degrees (takes 6 "clicks" for one rotation). Bump settings are harder to feel (no "clicks"): going by rotation. (2/3 open = 2/3 rotation = 240 degrees)

Summer 2010
===========
This yielded very good results, still open to experimentation though.

Front bump (bottom): 2/3 open
Front rebound (top): 7 clicks open
Rear bump: 3/4 open
Rear rebound: 5 clicks open

Winter 2010/2011
===============
This yielded very good results and will keep this setting for winters.

Front bump (bottom): 1 & 1/3 open
Front rebound (top): 10 clicks open
Rear bump: 1 & 1/2 open
Rear rebound: 9 clicks open

Factory Recommendation (from manual):
============
Front bump (bottom): 3/4 open
Front rebound (top): 8 clicks open
Rear bump: 3/4 open
Rear rebound: 6 clicks open

Spring DS Day 1 (May 21, 2011)
Recommended + 1 click stiffer rear rebound (5 clicks)

Arnt the spring and the shock body separate at the rear? Also the cover from what I saw couldn't be rotated or moved.

Yes, look at my photo (diagram was a general diagram only to show the valve mechanism). The cover is there, I do have it boxed in red. It slides radially around the the bottom, though it can pop off. Maybe yours is gone?

Although this is from the 1addicts forum, I feel like this is what mine looked like.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368641

They didn't have that round knob thing as shown in your pictures.

See Red boxes again.

Just disregard the PDF image I cut and pasted.

After being disappointed with how my rear shocks were set up for the last month (I wanted to make sure I wasn't being sensitive) because they felt too "bouncy", I adjusted to these specs you posted. It turns out that my rear rebound (top) was set to only 1 click open (shop install because nekky doesn't have a garage anymore). I dialed it down to 5 clicks open, not 100% expecting to feel a major difference. Well, I was wrong: it feels great. Finally in love with my M3 again. These settings are great, both front and rear.

Just FYI, I have a fairly new set of KW V3s and on the newer version there is now a purple knob at the bottom of the strut for this adjustment. The older versions require you to remove the dust cover and use the tool. Not sure how old your setup is....

That must be nice. Maybe the KW Engineers actually had to do a rear compression change and found out how hard it is to do when you're at the track. Eating your own dog food is sometimes a good thing. (Edit: j/k It's ALWAYS a good thing!)
