Water Temp
I've searched these forums, but can't find what I thought was going to be a simple answer. Apologies if this is a repeat.
What is the normal operating range of the water temperature for an N55? I got a bluetooth OBD2 scanner for a different reason, but it tells me at 217° I should take it in for repair. Pretty sure that's incorrect. My water temp fluctuates between 215°F-230°F. Oil temp stays steady and below 250°F. I've read the posts about it running hotter for efficiency and limp mode if it gets too hot. Is there an official "normal" range? |

Says 226 is the highest (scroll down to vortec4800 post) You've googled "bmw characteristic map thermostat n55", right? 217 was the limit for M54 on E46 cars, IIRC. |

Thanks
I hadn't googled "bmw characteristic map thermostat n55" because I didn't know that was a thing.
I appreciate the info. All is operating fine so I wasn't too worried. Seems like an overly difficult bit of information to obtain. I can see why the gauge was removed from the dashboard. |
