My wife and I both have the Motorola V710 (Verizon). Since the last software update, they pair perfectly 100%. All the above criteria you mentioned is no problem. Active calls will even transer into the car automatically if you're on the phone when you get in.

Motorola RAZR has also worked well for me so far. I couldn't hang up the call once or twice since August but that's pretty much it

I used vodafone Sharp 903sh; it's a 3G phone with cingular network. Pretty slick, if you want something other than the razor or anything that everyone uses in the US.

I didn't know you can send/receive SMS. Someone mentioned here that you can do it through the phone cradle but there hasn't been a discussion about this. I don't think its too necessary since I don't expect to send SMS while driving

I also have the E815 from Motorola with Verizon and found absolutely no problems using it since November now. The only issue is that once a call is connected, I cannot dial extensions numbers with the idrive, I have to open the phone and dial the extension that I am trying to reach.

I can make and receive calls. The phone book automatically transfers. I can dial by name, but only if I build a phonebook in the car. I don't have iDrive. I am not sure what calling name display means, but the caller ID works fine. I can't send/receive SMS messages as I don't have iDrive.
