Coolant Temp Issues
So I've done my research but I haven't really come to a conclusive answer, today I was driving on the highway to New Hampshire from Connecticut, and about half way there I get a warning that the car is overheating. I get out, see some coolant has discharged near the coolant reservoir and decided to keep going (I know not the best idea with overheating issues). I used my JB4 to display coolant and oil temperature, oil was fine but coolant was pegged in the 235-240 range in low boost mode (i had turned it on, map 8) and made it without any other issue. Now generally I understand coolant temp isnt supposed to exceed 215 degrees F, but what would cause my car to overheat so suddenly, then continually run at escalated temperatures? Is there any way to know if I'd need a new water pump/ thermostat by checking codes? Any help or advice is appreciated, thank you.

Pump is shot. Change the pump and thermostat. These pumps are common failure points. Codes would be either for blockage or stiff movement of the pump. Just replace and be on your way.

You need a new pump and should also do the thermostat. Coolant temp will range from 210-240 based on driving conditions. Cruising on the highway will be closer to 240 to be more fuel efficient. These pumps fail intermittently, so it may not always overheat but is still bad.

Just looked in my coolant reservoir, looks like i have oil in the coolant, could be a head gasket but no white smoke so maybe a oil filter housing gasket? Or what else would cause that to happen?

Yeah but only through the release valve to release the excess pressure, it only happened once and then there were no more leaks.
