Thanks. My regular temps use to be about 210-220F+ with one after market oil cooler. With the 2nd one in place I see about 200-210 F+ to be normal now on a normal day of around 70-80F+ ambient temps. Since its been pretty cold down here in my car around mid 50's. Ive seen the car as low as 195F+ on cruising speeds. I have pushed it, and did some test on my own to check if I could get oil temp spikes, which I havent seen yet. (temps over 220F+) Also with a stock oil cooler my cars temp would sit at 230F+ normally at cruising speeds around 70-80 F+. I would see spikes very easily with the stock oil cooler, esp with back to back highway runs or high revving cruises. From what I was told is that the stock oil pressure was not effected by adding another oil cooler or T'ing off the lines. If the oil pressure was effected the cars oil gauge would come on as red light (not a yellow one like when you need an oil change) with a SES light. If one oil cooler is getting more flow than the other it might be the one behind the FMIC since its closer to the pump. I havent noticed any malfunctions with it at all and I have driven about 500 miles with it so far. I will be doing a little bit more testing tonight with a few friends. (Im sure that youll be seeing videos on it tomorrow) About replicating the process it would be very possible indeed but like I said many people might not have that space behind the FMIC to put an oil cooler since most manufactures just make thicker FMIC or use up the stock FMIC space. I have a custom FMIC done by the same guys that have been working on the car since day one so it just worked out well. If anything getting a custom wheel well oil cooler from the existing stock placement would work also. Even if you wanted to do dual oil coolers you could probably mount it on the driver side, but that might be a little difficult trying to run the lines through there. I have noticed tho an upgraded FMIC and upgraded oil cooler work very well together as far as oil temps and keeping the car of heat soak.

Oh also regarding the oil catch can. They did find oil residue in my DV piping and intercooler lines. (more than they expected to see)
So it looks like the next step on the car will be how to reduce the oil build up process in those areas. Ill keep you guys posted with this one.

Ya im really hoping to wait for a good turbo set up. My guys at the shop are really itching to do a single turbo upgrade already. But the lack of tuners for the car in my area sucks... Plus, single turbo lag isnt for me. That and the $$ and down time to do it right now is probably a pain in the ass. They wanna put like a gt35r or a gt40 on it. Im not too crazy about that right now. Too much shit i have to worry about when doing that crap. Rebuild exhaust manifold, relocate crap in the engine bay so they can fit the turbo in. See where the injectors max out at. See how much power the block can handle. Too much R&D for private label. I wanted her to get a c63 but after fighting a loosing battle she wants a mini cooper S. Whatever tho that car is ridiculously light anyways hahah.

on the turbo lag....Single turbo setup's do produce alot of linear power but lag prob won't go away. Anyway, I saw video's of gt35r on a evo and, that was a 600hp monster....It was stupid fast Yeh I hear you on the relocation of the engine crap...too much time and money consuming. Haha, Mini cooper S.....Damn, I don't know why girls like Mini cooper S that much....she probably found it cute or something..you could probably still win the 'argument' by telling her that fron wheel drive car suck and Mini cooper is one Hmmm, anyway thanks for replying so quick...Best of luck with everything! |
