I use the pro version of the Carly app with an inexpensive non-Carly adapter and can code many things. Just did so yesterday. I gues the answer is it depends.

I would recommend to use cable,
even if you find something that works wirelessly with MHD(I really doubt, not such product at the moment) coding is so important process that if there will be packet loss during the process (which might be common for wireless data transmission), you might get in trouble with module, and it might make it really complicated get it back to normal. |

At the very least CRC checks are done on the uploaded code before committing.
I didn't know I had communications issues with the JB4 turned on and I tried MANY times to code. Only when the app reported a successful reception at the car module, did it finalize the changes and commit the coding. And before this it wanted a full verified download too. Once I turned off the JB4 the WiFi link became rock solid. |
