E9X Tow Bars ?

I need to get a tow bar for my E91 and wondered what the recommendations were, ideally I would have loved the flip out oem one but mine didn't come with that, so are there any good foldaway or removable options where you can't see it fitted from the rear ?

The oem towbars are manufactured by westafalia. I fitted one to my last two e91's and they're not to hard to do. Cost me £240 for the bar and the electric kit and took about 4 hours all in to fit it. Completely hidden when not in use and lockable when the hitch is fitted with a key.

I've got the BMW folding one on mine, it's awesome as it's completely hidden and comes out using a button in the boot.

Does it fold away or is it removable ? How hard are the electrics and stuff to do, bumper removal etc ?

Aftermarket Westfalia are removeable.
Completely invisible when not in place. The electric plug hinges up behind the bumper.
The bars fit all E9x, but you need an extra kit for mounting the exhaust if you have a twin turbo car. It's easy enough to manufacture a bracket for this, as the extra part is king expensive for what it is.

Bumper removal is easy, but you really need two people as it's a bit big to handle on your own as it's easy to scratch the car with it.

I can't remember which is which, but either the E9x bumper HAS to be pulled rearwards (not outwards at the side), or it's the E6x bumper that comes off this way. I know they are opposite!
No need to jack the car up or take the wheels off (but a short driver is needed to remove the wheelarch screws)

7-way relay wiring is much the same as any other car - fiddly.
I'd recommend the (much more expensive) dedicated electronics box. Depending on the year, you may have to run wires to the front of the car for this. Both my LCi E91's were all done at the back.

Mike

Edit: I see that you have a 335, so you will need the exhaust bracket - the exhaust mounts on to the cross member that you remove to fit the towbar.

I've fitted many makes of towbar to cars. Westfalia are IMHO the best engineered and finished, although the fitting instructions can be a bit Ikea - all diagrams
