CEL P2098 & P0041 - Suggestions?
After an estimated 20 miles (between clearing codes) I'm getting the check engine light (CEL) and the following two codes P2098 and P0041. P2098 is “Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Bank 2 System Too Lean” and P0041 is “Oxygen Sensor Signal Swapped, Bank 1 Sensor 2/ Bank 2 Sensor 2”. I’ve also had P2096 “Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1” however not as regularly.
I recently replaced the post catalyst O2 sensors; this was after checking them previously to ensure they were fitted correctly, which they were. So I do not think the sensors themselves are swapped. Since replacing the sensors I haven’t had P2096 but the other two codes are every other day. I’ve been running catless downpipes for over 2 years without any issues until recently; I’ve had the BMS DP Fix installed since day one as well. Additionally I’ve replaced all but the turbo wastegate vacuum tubing, spark plugs and coil packs for what it’s worth. The MAP sensor was visually checked and appeared fine, no build up etc. I only have a universal code reader at my disposal and I’m running out of ideas for what could be causing these codes. I was hoping for some suggestions to try and narrow down what’s causing these codes before I have to take it to a garage. I should add, the car doesn’t appear to be any different after the CEL comes on, maybe slightly rough but not to the extent of a misfire for example. So any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated. |

I removed the injectors and sent them off to be tested and serviced. Injector 6 came back as failed so I though that could be it. However, I've replaced it and there is no change. Still getting both codes on a daily basis.
I've checked and rechecked that the o2 sensors are in the correct orientation so I think the P0041 must be an electrical fault of some kind. The fact that when the P2098 code comes on there is no change in the way the car feels has me thinking it could also be something like that. The car is going in for full diagnostics and a check at an Indy next week so I'm hoping he can do something with it. The more I think about it I'm becoming convinced it's a problem with the ECU. |
