Disconnecting Battery on the 2008 E93

Dear members,

Most posts on the E9x's to disconnect the battery is as easy as removing the right side trim panels in the trunk and unscrewing the 10mm bolt. I have a 2008 E93. Please see the picture below. There is a guard that holds the connector in place even after I took the bolt off, it remains unmoveable. Please see the picture below. In this picture I put the bolt back already. There is an extension that goes to the body of the vehicle, if you look at the bottom of the picture. Should I be removing the bolt on this to disconnect the ground? I have a steering wheel and alarm mode that I want to do myself. But without disconnecting ground I can't move forward. Any experience and advice would be most appreciated.

Cheers!

loosen the 10mm nut on the battery terminal, wiggle, and pull up. that will take the cable off the battery.

Wow you E93 guys sure have a lot more wires (understandably) going to your battery!! I've disconnected my battery probably a dozen times. I have an E92 and my negative battery terminal seems to be the same as yours. I just loosen the 10mm bolt and wiggle it while pulling up. Here are a couple photos of the E92 battery and negative terminal connection:

Thanks for the feedback guys!! Much appreciated. I'll try it again shortly and provide a little more force.

Cheers!

Yeah even to get to the damn battery is a mission in itself...Its not like the E92 with just a cover, the E93 you have to loosen up all the plastic locking screws and then pull off the cover which is not a easy task...You have to bend and pull it out...
