Data Logging Info? and Is it safe to Tweak RPM Torque Points?

I cant find the post on directions to do Datalogging. Anyone know where this is? id like to see what boost and such im running and post some logs.

2nd. I know we should up values across the board evenly, to reach max boost 15psi. But if im running less at different rpms, can i boost up some of the torque values seperatley to try to get 15psi across the board thru the entire rpm range?

thanks

OK i found the Datalogging DIY

but next question is..

Can i tweak the torque values at different rpms to try and get a consistent 15psi across the band?

You won't get consistent 15 psi across the board, and I wouldn't try it, especially in the upper rpm range.

There is a natural bump/dip in the 335i in the 4200-4500 rpm range too, on stock and modified cars. Don't try to tune that bump/dip out either.

hey driver72,

data logging:
i plan on doing 3rd and 4th gear runs up to about 6,000 rpm. thus, i think i will be doing like 120 mph or there abouts.
I live in a small town in south america, the highways are narrow and not many long straights.
120+ on these highways is not that easy.

I do not have a proceed, so I must manually data log my boost levels.
IS IT A BIG DEAL IF I DAT LOG WITH 3 TOTAL PERSONS IN THE CAR??

I would drive, another would call out the rpms, and the third person would record my boost.
Having 3 people in the car will not affect my boost readings will it?
also, will 3 people in the car affect the total timing advance log i will run on my auterra scanning unit?

i am new to this kinda stuff, so thanks for any input

Yeah, having 3 people in the car may very well affect it a bit.
The extra weight will put extra load on the engine and may affect the boost levels a bit.
You could have 1 other person in the car with a video camera that is holding the video camera and the boost gauge near the steering wheel, so you are video taping the boost gauge and the tach at the same time.

Not exactly datalogging, but would give you a rough estimate of boost at various rpms where you live.
You can do 2nd to 3rd then into 4th and shut down.
3rd gear is best.
Start at 2k rpms in 2nd and go until you shift into 4th.
Then also do a run where you start at under 2K rpms in 3rd and shift into 4th.
Again, you don't need to go much into 4th though.

Also, find as level of a road as you can. Going uphill will produce more load on the car, and going down hill will produce less than actual load on the car.

Be safe.

why, if you don't have procede, would you wish to log, is it to get a baseline ?

test elevation etc ?
