189 Wheels Weigh HOW much? 32lbs!

I picked up a set of Apex Arc-8s the other day. When I was putting them on I was astonished with how light they were compared to my 189 wheels. I knew the arc-8s were light and I knew the 189 wheels were not light but I didn't think they were as heavy as they came out to be. Unfortunately, both wheels had tires mounted so these may not be exact weights. But according to tire rack, both tires weigh 26 lbs.

189 18x8.5 w/ 26lb tire - 57lbs
Arc-8 18x8.5 w/ 26lb tire - 43lbs

This shows the arc-8 weighing 18lbs (apex says 18lbs) and the 189 weighs 31lbs. 14lbs of rotational mass saved per corner is HUGE! This is similar to saving about 120 lbs of static weight from the car. In general, 1lb rotational mass saved equates to 2lbs static mass saved.

yea, I can't wait to replace my 189s with a set of Apex Arc8's. I am wanting to go wider than 8.5 in the rear though. Thinking closer to 10".

That is huge. Have you noticed acceleration, handling or fuel economy gains as a result? Interested to know how tangible the difference is.

I'm with you, Arc8s and/or TE37's are the way to go for anyone concerned with weight wanting to save weight

The turn in is so much crisper now due to the significantly lower moment of inertia. I'm sure it's slightly quicker too due to the weight.
