Voice Activation Concerns

Has anyone every experienced issues with the voice activation not working (i.e. not responding to the steering wheel / console activations buttons?) - maybe 1 in every 5 times I start up it does not take. Think it might be a computer glitch. Appreciate any input / thoughts.

Only immediately after powering the vehicle up. After the electronics have been up for about 30 seconds it's fine (ok, maybe with a second or two delay after pressing the button before it kicks in)

I just find that you have to be careful what you say. One day I was driving along on my merry way and someone cut me off in traffic. I muttered "F*ck me!" and well, the voice command system must had heard me and interpreted it as a command.

That's why I had to buy the new selector lever knob.

I find it takes at least 40 Seconds before the car will accept voice commands after I start the car. Seems to be how long it takes the systems to start/boot up

RustyR,

i agree with the boot up time - I've experienced that too. But right now the car won't do it at all - after any length of time....This occurs about 1 / 3 times I start it up. Thoughts? Computer glitch? Dealer issue? GOing to call and see if they have any ideas.

My VR completely failed about 6 weeks ago. When they did the Measures Plan prior to updating software it told them the CID (Central Information Display - iDrive screen) needed to be replaced. Waited 5 weeks for part and loaner, and now car is in for the fix. But then they found a new problem - a CCC cooling fan that had to be replaced and now a TCU bad and waiting for parts. So the end result - when I get it back and it works which part fixed it ??? I don't know if they know for sure, but only the CID was the original fault found.
