woulndt be so sure ther matey check my thread from a while ago

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85806

B3 has more power and torque available over more of the powerband so unless the M3 driver is on track i think the B3 would have the edge..........should of saved yourself 15k

It's gentle, harmless understeer, but trimming the throttle doesn't alter the attitude one bit. I'm not asking for lairy slides here, but I do want to be able to point the nose inward by lifting-off or slightly edge the load onto the rear tyres by accelerating, and I want more of a sense that the car's enjoying the experience rather than just tolerating it
The impression I have of the car is that it is an accomplished cruiser, but not dynamically as exiting as some of it's rivals. More of a rival to Mercedes than BMW.

That being the case the A5 3.0d seems to be very nearly as good and cost a great deal less.

Is that really NFS saying that a diesel would be better than petrol?

I dont agree.

The A5 3.0tdi is miles away from the S5.. (I have driven the 3.0tdi, and been a passenger int he v8)

The diesel feels majorly slower than the s5 wheres as the two bmw's (335i and 335d) feel as quick as each other.

So the choice between the 335d and 335i is a harder one compared to an S5 or A5 3.0TDI.

For clarity and to ensure that nobody mis-enterprets my original post - the 3 series is a great handling car - definately. I didn't want people to think that I was in any way saying the 3 wasn't a great handling car!!

I felt that the 135i handled a little better for me.

I suppose that is like saying whether you prefer Kate Moss or Claudia Schiffer, depends on preference, but you wouldn't say either was ugly.

so my bad to all if you thought I was saying the 3 was a dog - don't forget that I really wanted one and if my wife didn't have one I would be posting here saying "Guess what I bought a 335i".

Peace out all :-)

Don't worry. I didn't think you were going having a pop at the 3 series at all.

We are all entitled to our opinions (even Carlos) and I can seriously see the attraction of the 135i.

I was just trying to pick up on the reasons why you felt the 1 series handled better.

I myself swapped my first 5 series for a 3 series after 6 months because I felt the 5 was too big and not nimble enough. There isn't a massive weight difference there either because so much of the e60 is aluminium. However, the handling in the 3 is MUCH sharper.

I'm sure that the 1 series smaller scale makes it easier to place on the road with confidence.

335d vs 335i is not the same as S5 vs A5 3.0TDi

A better comparison is 335d vs M3.

The M3 is definitely 'better' enough to justify it's existence. The S5 might not be.

The RS5 should sort this out nicely, but in the meantime I think it's a shame that the S5 isn't dynamically as capable as the RS4
