Replacing Camshaft Hook Rings As Preventative Care?

Hi all,

Quick question: Would it be wise to replace the metal camshaft hook rings with the Teflon ones as preventative maintenance? It would be much much cheaper to rent the tools and parts than to replace both bearing ledges as they have skyrocketed in price. Can you change the rings without polishing the bearing surface?

Thank you!
