Low profile jack
For those of us that must use jacks whether a lift is cost prohibitive or just not enough room for one, I'm shopping as my long timer (27 years or so) jack is worn out.
The two that seem to fit the bill are Omega 29023 and ATD 7325. The C6 corvette guys report that they are low enough. I had found a review from a Z4 owner that it worked for him too. I wasn't sure what the difference between distance from nose to jack point was on a Z4 vs my msport. Neighbor around corner has a 2011 Z4 with only 13000 miles and has never had it on a jack. Anyway, he let me measure for a comparison and they are within 1". 24" for Z4 vs 25" for 335d Msport. Jack is pricey and heavy at around 125 lb. I've had to use the X5 jacks to get front high enough to roll the old one under. I'm hoping to eliminate that intermediate lift and just go high and put those special stands I showed you all before (rectangular blocks on top). Are there other low profile jacks that get under 3 series without resorting to driving up on boards or doing my scissor jack methods? I understand we all have these work arounds but I'm buying a new one that is made to bypass that BS. |

Like you, my trusty antique floor jack died about two years ago. After wiping my tears, I tried to find someone to rebuild it, then just tried to find parts, then put it beside the recycle bin. I wound up buying one of these:
Pittsburgh Automotive 62326 3 ton Low Profile Steel Heavy Duty Floor Jack with Rapid Pump® 3 Ton Low Profile Steel Heavy Duty Floor Jack With Rapid Pump® Item #62326 (41) comp at $169.99 Sale: $99.99 Add to Cart Add to My List I know, I know...it's Chinese crap from Harbor Freight. But, man, even their nicest aluminum racing jack is only $189! Since I never pick mine up, I opted for the steel one. I also rationalized that Chinese steel was stronger than Chinese aluminum ![]() Concerned about the quality and my safety, I decided to test it before throwing away the receipt. I lifted the front end of my Corvette about two inches and went to bed. The next morning, I was surprised to see its tires still suspended! So I left it that way and left town for a week the next morning in my Beemer. When I returned home, the cheap Chinese floor jack earned my respect. I use it regularly for maintenance on all six of my vehicles. |

This is the one I use, but I don't think it will be useful in your case right in the middle of the car.

Don't get the 1.5 ton aluminum jack from harbor freight. I got one about a year so I can keep it with me on trips but it's small and light enough that I usually just leave it in the car all the time.
The jack works fine except its not as strong as I would like(I probably went over its rating using it on heavier cars a few times) and I noticed part of it is a little bit bent after quite a bit of use. I got my monies worth out of it, and I'm going to get the 3 ton aluminum jack. |

Eric, I did measurements. Lowest spot on msport number is 4.5". Jack point is 24" aft of this low spot. Omega is supposed to be lower than 4.5" at 25" from lifting pad. Can you take a picture without boards under tires with jack pushed in until point of interference please? I can try to cancel order possibly. Whole point of getting thus one was to eliminate all of the helper jack or boards business.
Is your msport lowered? You said easily clear. Will it be close but not touch w/o the boards?http://www.davemiranda.com/images/1-DSC_5903c-72.jpg Last edited by BB_cuda; 01-13-2016 at 09:54 PM.. |

Boy do I feel stupid! I've been using the jack for a few months now and hadn't noticed that the metal plate on top near the lever had popped up about 1/4". After a nice "whack" I can report that the Omega (without running up on boards) will reach the center jack point from dead-on straight at the front bumper (M-sport). There is about 1/8" clearance so lower gently.
[For the record, mine is an M-Sport bumper on a Sport model -- not lowered] Here is a pic coming in straight at the center of the bumper with the jack pad squarely on the center jack point. ![]() You can see the dimples in the plate that should locate in the holes of the jack body. [edit - My apologies for posting so late. I'm still getting used to this forum, and unlike others, the default is to NOT automatically subscribe you to a thread you've posted on] Last edited by eric-satx; 01-15-2016 at 07:39 AM.. |

Can anyone confirm the 1/8" clearance? Currently I'm stock (sport suspension) height, but I plan on lowering the front a little with aftermarket spring perches, which should lower it 0.4 - 0.6".
I just ordered the harbor freight long reach low profile jack (here) but it's a just a little too short. However it was only $120 with coupon, where the omega jack costs $310! I was hoping it would've been long enough to reach the front jack point without the need for any "helpers" (and also tall enough for 12" race ramp wheel cribs I ordered). I might but the omega, but only if there would be enough clearance after I lowered on spring perches (otherwise what's the point).

Your question: the jack had just barely enough clearance to not touch when getting to center lifting point. I've been real happy with my choice. I only have msport (soon switching to M3 replica) and not lowered. I understand you don't want to spend that much unless it works lowered. We have to make our choices. I just got sick of the drill doing the side jacking before putting central jack under center point. I really like my long jack |

I'm pretty damn low as you can see in the link in my sig. With cf lips on the bottom etc.
The $250 low profile arcan Jack works well for me. So well I bought a second one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=i...sprefix=arcan+ Best Jack I have ever owned and I don't have to touch wood planks like I used to. I highly reccomend it. Lifts high too. |

My stock suspension and the 3 ton aluminum harbor freight jack. if i want to jack using the middle cross member center front jacking point, the car has to be driven up on wood.
if i opt to use the side rocker panel sill, i can fit it under (even with a flat tire). the only reason i need wood is because the jack has to go too far under to reach the center point. |
