MAF sensor on its way out?
My car has been throwing these two codes for the past week:
4BC6 - Intake frequency to low 4831 - Intake air temperature sensor I pulled these codes from Carly. I checked the connections, cleaned the air filter, etc and now I'm left with one code again: 4BC6 - Intake frequency to low (same as above) I searched the forum and it seems most people suggest buying a new MAF and replacing it. Seems pretty easy I guess. My car doesn't go into limp mode or anything funny. But I can't stand seeing the damn SES light on. It drives me frakin crazy. What say you all? Just buy the sensor and replace it myself? I see FCP Euro has it for $217, plus it's hard to beat the lifetime replacement they offer... Is this the best course of action?

Sounds like it is the HFM as long as there is not a connection or wiring issue.
Easy to replace - there are a few adaptations which should be reset. If you have ISTA or Ediabas send me a PM. |

Thank you for responding. I do not have ISTA or Ediabas. Do I need this software? Is the MAF not "plug and play" on our cars?

I had the same codes with power loss especially on acceleration. Also very temp sensitive meaning at lower temps it wouldn't trigger a CEL unless at a stop idling. Hot I was limping around all the time. Changed MAF and I was back in action. Paid ~ $165 http://www.eeuroparts.com/

Well I just finished replacing the MAF. It was super easy but dammit to hell I dropped one of the screws inside the engine bay. Of course, why me. BUT, I was able to use a magnet from under the car and use it to move the screw to the front until it popped out between the cover... you know since the underbody is mostly covered haha.
Anyway, I also had to clear the SES one more time with Carly. So far the light hasn't come back on. It took 1.5 weeks for the part to get here from FCPEuro. Gosh shipping was painfully SLLLOOOOWWWWW. I opted for free shipping but had no idea they used the crappiest, slowest shipping method possible. Sheesh. It's like media mail slow.

Well I've been driving around for a bit and no SES code again. Looks like this fixed the issue *knock on wood* for now.
Here's a pic of the new and old. ![]()
