A local shop in the ATL area is proposing $720 to refinish and paint the calipers and hubs on my e93 335i in one of 6 or so standard brembo colors, seems high to me, opinions?

I'm doing the same on my 335 brakes. Smoothed em all out with a flap disk and angle grinder, high heat primer, filler primer, sandpaper, then paint, then high heat clear. Total cost about 80 bucks in paint, but I have several hours into making them smooth. The rears especially.

If possible do it yourself. I'm just finishing up painting the rotor hats and it was really easy. Cost of materials isn't much either. Most of the time in the process is all prep. I haven't done the calipers yet, but will be soon down the road.

I did the same. I sanded them all down smooth. It took forever. Then painted with a G2 kit. It turned out OK. $720 is too high. If you can do without your car for a couple days, take off your calipers, take out the pistons, then take them to a local powder coat shop. They'll media blast your calipers and powder coat them. It'll be about half the price you listed above.
You could also just buy new rebuilt OEM calipers already painted. It would still be cheaper.

found this guy recommended by a Porsche group and he'll do it for $500 or on site for an extra $50

If you're not a hands guy, and you dont mind blowing 400 bucks more than you need to, that's a good way to go.

Did it myself, took maybe 3 hours (mostly prep to put cardboard and tape, and brushing), and cost $20 in various supplies and paint.

Paint them yourself OP.
It's super easy....just clean/sand clean what's on calliper/rotors.....tape everything else you don't want paint on.....and as Meeni said above.....about 20 some odd dollars and you can marvel at how easy it was to save $700 and have a nice look through them wheels.
Google this all day and see what others can accomplish in a couple hours.

That's a very decent price Butler gave you. The calipers look great. I'm gonna be honest, don't like the wheel face color on those wheels though. Too much contrast. On eBay they sell the paint-matched front bumper reflectors for your ride. You should add full car pictures to see how the calipers came out.

I did it a bit different. I left a few pieces silver and just cleared over it .
The red portion is a brighter red with a second coat of red translucent to darken it and then high temp clear over it.

Blue to contrast the red and some high heat stickers...hopefully not to rice-y. I painted the clips black as well.

G2 and do it yourself. Unless your close enough to be cleaning the wheel you cant see a difference from powder coating them.

i like that colored clear over to deepen the color
