RPM Signal Wire for W/M Injection
Does someone have a picture of the best place to pick up the RPM signal on the 335D? Also, wondering if it's a 0-5V or 0-12V
I'm finally researching for my W/M Injection and will be mapping based on Boost & RPM limits, but need a clean RPM signal. Hoping to have a nice DIY project to share if I can get all of this figured out. |

I'm wondering as well. I'm pretty sure TDIwyse will know as his modded JBD probably works off the same signal.

#19 of the 59 terminal plug. Wire is black/red.
You may need a pullup resistor to 12v depending on what your module requires..... |

The controller I'm looking at can use 0-5v or 0-12v. It allows overlaying of Boost & RPM for duty cycle. I'm just researching now, but without a clean signal for RPM I don't think it will work.

One of the OBD pins (lower right iirc) has a beautiful square wave rpm signal. I've been using that for >4 years now in my setup. Very handy...

Thanks all. I was thinking the OBD2 plug might have it. If you get a chance can you snap a picture of which pin it is? I'm thinking it's Pin 9.

The OBD port in the cabin is rotated 90 deg (so it runs vertical not horizontal). The lower right pin is, I believe, pin 9. A multimeter with a freq option will let you know if you're on the correct pin (assuming the engine is running :-) ).

I went with torqbyte. Their customer service and software is remarkable. Here is a graph that I made over the weekend. Hope to put it in soon!

That's exactly the controller I was looking at. RPM & Boost mapping looks to be an awesome way to go. You beat me to it.

Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!
At this rate, you're going to see the prices double on these. I've been planning my system around their CM5 controller and just bought it. Let's keep it in the club, please. |

They are discounted right now for market placement; if anything they will go to retail price.
So this will save you guys some trouble. Under "pulse" change from .50 to 2.00. Basically the rpm was reading high with stock settings to the device. As soon as I changed this it dropped to our perfect 720 idle with their live logger. The product unbelievable! This allows you to customize everything and the software to program the device is flawless too. Now the question is how low can I go without quenching (1000ml). Seems the nozzles atomize best starting at 30% duty making it less ideal at lower rpm. Side affects of quench are also harder starts it seems. *Also I used the obd2 port for rpm signal. |
