DPF/SCR delete with stock exhaust?
I'm hopefully going to be getting a tune in the next couple of weeks and am trying to weigh my options. Going to definitely get the SCR coded out but leave it in place, but can't decide whether to leave the DPF or spend the extra money and go ahead and replace it with a downpipe and leave the rest of the exhaust stock. Anyone running with this setup?

Look for a "clean tune" thread posted by QUIKDZL

Ok, thanks for the link. I did some searching but did come across what I was looking for. There is some good info in that thread.
I'm getting the P20EE code so I want to tune out the DEF system (leaving it in place) but it sounds like I need to keep the DPF until I decide to replace the whole exhaust and do complete deletes on the DPF and SCR. I'm just not ready to invest $3000 in it right now. |

You can delete the DPF and run the SCR, but I wouldn't recommend it for very long. It ends up putting a lot of strain on that system, which will clog up. You can always gut the SCR.

JTC....I am in the same boat you are. Just get the stage 1 tune for now. It is 300whp compared to 330whp for stage 2 and it costs so much less. If there is nothing wrong with your systems, don't spend the money....I can't wait to drive the car at 300whp and 470lbft it is going to be a blast for sure....

So JR does offer a stage 2 "race" which can tune egr and scr out but leave the dpf intact. This is probably your route since it allows you to leave your components in place and not have the worry of plugging your scr with soot. Not a lot of people run this config, but Andrew from arod has said they have done several this way.
The stage 2 tune for entact emissions systems only allows egr to be disabled/blocked. It's a little confusing since they really have 2 stage 2 tunes. I'm stage 2 2for stock emissions running since my scr is new and my dpf only has 25k mile s on it. You can upgrade later as needed. |

I also have the upgraded Intercooler from ianknown and it is amazing. The boost builds quick and the car just goes. I highly recommend the Intercooler upgrade. I will soon get the full exhaust and the downpipe, but for now the stage 2 tune w/ emissions is fine. |

I paid $1000CAD (around $750USD), plus shipping costs for the ECU to/from their HQ.

I think you're right. EGR comes in handy during at two times: engine warmup and DPF regens. Hence why I like the tune from JR; it keeps EGR active during these two brief but important times, then turns it off. So you reduce soot by 99% but keep the positive aspects, plus you don't need to buy the race pipe, saving $235.

But during a DPF regen it was my understand the stock software closes the EGR. I'm guessing there is something about the way its coded that the EGR needs to activate in order for the DPF regen process to kick off. It might help to keep EGT's from running too high... It would seem to me that running cold reduces combustion efficiency and creates more soot, and dpf regen which does post injection events to cause more fuel to burn in the exhaust and full throttle, would all be times you'd want the egr closed to reduce soot being cycled in the intake. I maybe wrong here, but it would seem that these times could generate the most soot. I know there are BPC folks who have the same features. |

I'm just going by what Jarek said regarding the necessity of EGR for proper DPF regen functionality. I agree that you want higher EGTs for regens, and that EGR lowers EGTs, but I think there's more to it than just that.

I had my downpipe in with scr in place and worst decision ever , led to my downpipe getting a leak in the flex pipe due to pressure build up , either gut your stock dpf and scr or go downpipe and scr gut at the bare minimum
