WTF is going on with cell phone signal

I have an iPhone 6S and for the past week, the signal has been between 1-2 bars. I'm with AT&T. Prior to last week it was fine. I usually had 4-5 bars.

Quick Google search shows that iPhone 6 had reception issue but I believe it was fixed. Either way it was fine up until last week. I didn't make any changes to settings.

Thoughts?

Maybe it's Apples way of getting you to get their new phone.

Do you have a case?

My mother had been complaining about the signal quality of her 5S and supposedly removing the case helped a lot.

symptom happen at multiple locations, or just one? That is, define if it's a local tower issue only, or a phone issue that presents regardless of location.

If local only, compare notes with other locals that use the same company and learn if problem presents on different phones also.

AT&T blows. I'm glad I'm not paying with my own money for AT&T as my cell carrier. I have AT&T through work on a Samsung S5. Even with full bars with the phone showing 4G data connectivity, I would get dropped calls or timeouts trying to get email pulled down from the company Exchange server. If AT&T charged the same as Sprint (the carrier I use for my personal phone), I would let the reliability issues slide, but AT&T charges way more than Sprint. Sprint is actually more reliable lately than AT&T has been. And my problems are not due to living in the boondocks either.

Probably has to due with the actual cell towers. Maybe they are being maintained or upgraded.

You won't get an argument from me there. Especially when I was able to experience what good cell service is in of all places Puerto Rico. Anyone responsible for CONUS based systems should be ashamed of themselves.

But if I had to pay the pricing AT&T wants for their shotty service in a major metropolitan market, I'd be livid.

Had the same issue with my 7+ (was eventually stolen in Barcelona) and went back to the 6s+, haven't had an issue.

I have Verizon FYI - there is also an update for the iPhone 10.1 I believe, maybe it'll help?

I have a case and been using it for a year now. No issue until this past week. Even took the case off last night to see if it would be better. It wasn't.

I thought about that. I think the last update was weeks ago. I updated to the latest one last night to see if it makes a difference and still same shitty reception.

Sitting at work now and it's fluctuating between 1-2 bars. Two weeks ago it was 4-5 and that's how it usually is. I live in a metro area so reception shouldn't be an issue.

I'm on ATT also and have a 5S. Service has declined from 4 bars to 1. I live in North Miami. Maybe this is "Nationwide"???

No changes to my case or any other changes.
