To drain or not to drain DEF
I just got the DEF coded out and was planning on draining it and flushing it with water. I was advised today that it would be better just to leave the old DEF in than drain it out, but that didn't really make sense to me.

I've heard your options are to drain out the DEF and fill with distilled water, or drain and fill with DEF every 2 years because that is the shelf life for DEF. There's some people messing around with removing the tank completely, buy I'm waiting on a nice DIY guide from one of our fellow members before I try to tackle that.

I drained and flushed out with distilled water. Before draining all distilled water out of tank I let the system pump water through the injection line in order to flush line out also.

How did you get the pump to activate to do that? Did you get it to just inject the water onto the ground or in a drain pan or something?

I wasn't to sure if the pump would activate after Alphabet delete. I left the fuses in for the urea system that you are to remove after tune. I just let it pump out on the ground. I drove it like this for a few hundred mls then removed the fuses.

The only place moisture could end up that it otherwise wouldnt would be in the tank. If you were to revert back to DEF use you would likely need to clean the tank before putting DEF in anyway so that doesnt seem like much of a reason.
