We are going to allow the end user to set the base wastegate DC% at idle, cruise and deccel with the next user software update.

If you are hear rattle with the procede in only, it's because you have the DME software that "masks" the problem by opening up the wastegates at idle/cruise/deccel. Which causes noticeable lag.

The real solution is to get your wastegates replaced. But until then, this adjustable will allow you to mask the problem.

I wish the volume on your recording was better. I don't think I hear that on my car, which I guess is a great thing.

My software is from 04/2007 and has never been updated.

works for me. its hard to go in and complain to bmw about a rattle that doesn't exist because of there 'fix'. going in and complaining about turbo lag is not something i would like to do

how does one convince dealership to replace wastegates if they have installed software which "masks" said problem? one can not walk into dealership and say that problem only occurs when my tune is installed and bypasses said masking of issue.

I'm afraid that is the only way of doing it. You'll have to complain of turbo lag from the software. And then have the update to the newest software. Which will bring the rattle back. At that point, the only thing they can do is replace the wastegates (or possibly even the turbos).

What are the lifespan of the wastegates? I hear the same thing when I first turn on the car. I have 29,500 miles thus far.

Can Autotune adjust this for us automatically?

My car does the same noise, though not as loud, and only when my engine is cold.

OP: does it still rattle at normal temperatures?

With the 6-16 maps, we incorporated an adjustment for wastegate position during idle, cruise and deccel. If you have rattling wastegates, this will reduce or eliminate the rattle during these conditions.

Yes i know this thread is 7 years old. This is the same issue i am currently having with my Procede. No tune no rattle, tune on and it rattles.

I am going to hookup my labtop to the procede this weekend. Somebody please tell me what map i should update to and what setting i need to enable or disable to make the rattle go away. I hope it works with windows 10 ??

And if that doesn't do it, well i guess its new turbos for me even though they spool pretty dang good.

you need to figure out what your stock flash is. I thought the same thing with mhd. Turned out the stock flash I had left the wastegates open at idle/cruising, and the flash closed them during these times, so I believed my issue was the tune. Turns out my wastegates were just worn to start with. I adjusted the actuator rods, and no more rattle on any tune took about 2 hours of my time total.

I have tried and tried again to tighten my wastegate rod. I get the nut broke lose but cant get the rod to turn. It sounds like a spring compressing when i wrench it. I got worried it might break. I only get rattle on deceleration and at startup

Did you try setting the Wgate Position setting to 30 under the user programmable options menu?

Take a picture of that whole screen and post it, and load the aggressive stage map whatever based on mods off the site if you haven't already. I'm running one to control meth along with mhd and have it setup and working great. Let us know what your plans are or if you need any other help.
