Right on.. Not a fan of brightly painted barked unless they are a true bbk.

Enjoy your new goodies!

Yes it does, and until I opened the box, I was expecting a carbon fiber wrapped strut bar. After the strut bar appeared in its chrome "birthday suit," I went back to the Mod_Bargains website only to discover a small disclaimer attached to your photo submission that indicated the bar in the photo had been wrapped by the customer. So. . .
Oh. They used my pics lol. My bad. Took ten mins to wrap. Got the wrap on Amazon.

Had a question on the Stoptech rotors and Hawk 5.0. I bought the slotted/drilled ones. I had it installed at a shop late December. I noticed these things squeak initially and it goes away when they "warm" up. Is this normal? And it does have less initial bite but I thought it would go away after the break-in period. I bought these over other pads because it's suppose to be better than the OE pads. These pads cost more than the other options I was looking at. Frankly I'm a bit disappointed and I have close to 300 miles on them already.

Mine do not squeak but what I have noticed is this, when braking, and right at the point when the car is about to come to a complete stop, the brakes screech--almost like a grinding sound. I can get the same noise if I slowly let my foot off the brake to creep forward. I have also noticed the Hawk HPS 5.0 brake pads do not like to be ridden to a gradual stop, they seem to respond better if you're a bit more deliberate in your braking.

HPS 5.0 have lower initial bite compared with OEM, in my experience. This is a different "feel" and allows the brake pedal to be modulated, especially around the engagement threshold.

At the same time, they have superior fade resistance, didn't squeal with ST slotted rotors, are less abrasive on rotors, and didn't fall apart on early track days. They are NOT really an adequate pad for HPDE, but are a nice upgrade to OE.

I do agree that the first impression can be less than amazing. They just do what they're supposed to do, without drawing attention.

Yes this is exactly what I'm experiencing. These pads have a different feel than OE. I wanted to take it gradually to break them in first. I noticed the car tends to roll if you do that and you have to brake harder as a result. I read a lot of reviews and none of them mentioned this, which adds to the disappointment of it. If I knew this I would have picked different pads. Thanks for the confirmation.

Ask the installer if or how they bedded in the brake pads. With the Hawk pads the bedding process is different from other types of pads. In an earlier post I indicated the process I used, which where on the bottom of the box.

Thanks! Will give them a call about it.

It's not too loud. With the windows up I don't hear it. Windows down and I hear it for the first 5 minutes or so. Once it warms up, the sound is gone.

Are my brake pads done? It went from screeching/grinding to squeaking. Now i get a warning that my rear brake pad needs to be replaced in 700 miles. There must be something wrong since it was installed last December.

I cannot believe brake pads would wear down to a properly installed warning sensor in only 700 miles. I would remove the left rear wheel and do a visual inspection of the brake pads, and if necessary, remove the brake pad to see if something is up with the sensor.

Thanks. I'm taking it back to the shop that installed it. I was told by the shop that squeaking brakes can happen because of the rotors I have. I hope it's just a loose sensor.

$235, and per Mod Bargains website, it only fits the e92.

OP, did you have any problem installing the 5.0 pads on your 328i, especially the front? I am having troubles because both the hawk inner and outer pads have clips and only the oem inner have clips

The extra clips on the front pads have to be removed, then they will work fine.

low key this year -- two nights in the French Quarter in New Orleans then a four-day cruise to Cozumel. Then I will install my perforated parking brake handle!
