Looking for some help.

I just retrofitted Combox Telematics to my retrofitted CIC.

Everything seems to be working correctly except the option to "Transfer data via Bluetooth"

I don't even have that option in any of my phone settings. Bluetooth tethering is enabled on my phone, paired correctly.

I don't have the following option:


Any ideas or help would be appreciated! Maybe my CIC firmware is too old?
Internet and BMW Online show up in the BMWAssist menu.

When pairing, I do not even get this Data Transfer check box. (Picture found online)

For internet, you have to add option 614, pair a phone via Bluetooth, and activate BT tethering. THEN change COB_ONLINE_BROWSER to beide_aktiv in the CIC trc..

Yeah I already added 614 and changed COB_ONLINE_BROWSER.

Like I said, Internet shows, but I can't figure out how to get the Data Transfer option.

I ended up comparing my trace file for CIC with someone elses and made the necessary changes and everything is working great now.

Would help if you shared what changes you made incase anyone finds this thread with the same issue.

hope you guys can help me seems like no one else had have these issue:

retrofitted combox telematics in my 2009 335i connected drive is showing on cic bmw apps is showing on cic but it doesn't matter what i do it still says connect external device to vehicle via usb! it just will not connect!

please could some one help me please! (remote coding)
BMW online and internet is also not working! but its showing on the cic (idrive)

Have you got an iphone with BMW Connected app connected to the USB? (blue one?)
What SP-daten version is your CIC flashed to?

Hey guy thanks a lot for helping me out! Checked everything again, blue and black connectors can not be switched they are color coded blue fits just blue and the same with black also they have little fins so you can't switch them! Checked my coding (first time I coded my the car) again and found that connected drive was still set to nicht_aktiv! However it showed connectedDrive on the cic already but I couldn't connect to it after but it works like charm after changing it to aktiv. Now I need to get BMW online and Internet to work! Thanks again! BMW online and Internet gets displayed on cic already but BT data transfer is not displayed nothing to check mark that box!

I seem to be experiencing something similar. I had a business CIC which had this option to use the mobile phone data, but when I switched to a Pro CIC (same Combox as I already had) the options have vanished.

My car actually has BMW online / assist via the combox, but its not working correctly since switching to the Pro CIC. I would love to be able to tick this checkbox and use the BMW online via my tethering.

Can you assist me and let me know what it was you had to change to enable this?

It it your understanding that when not checked, the CIC will revert to to using the car combox / SIM? Ideally not looking to permanently disable the BMW Online / assist via combox, as it works at times.

I really just want to be able to reach the BMW search, to search for places for navigation, its really powerful.

is there any chance you could explain what was different in the two trace files?

Im not really looking to enable the internet browser, or to "break" my assist stuff (combox) I just want to enable the option to use tethering data, rather than car, on occasion.
