Question Does Rain-X interfere with wipers rain-sensing function?

I have used Rain-X on my E36 and like it a lot.

I just thought that maybe there is a bad interaction between Rain-X and the ability to detect water on the glass and control the wiper speed.

Should I leave the sensing area un-Rain-X-ed?

Any experience anyone?

No, It wont affect the wipers. My wifes Lexus RX330 came with some stuff like rain x, but last longer and wipers work fine.

rain-x is the best I use nothing else, even in a hurricane the rain just roll off the windshield and the wipers don’t work as hard.

Rain-X isn't bad... although, working in a dealership and having the opportunity to have my car detailed left and right previously... I can say without out a single doubt in my mind, rain-x has NOTHING on Aqua-Pel. It lasts for nearly a year, beads water off like rainx wishes it could and wont let ice form on the windows at all.

I generally use aqualpel once a year on all windows and fog-x which does exactly what you think. With the two... worked into the glass properly of course so there's no haze... I hardly have to use my wipers year round.
