Sorry, it's a beginner's question. How does MP3 CDs works with the Logic7 Radio
Is there a certain way that I need to burn the CD? All I did was drag and drop the folders with MP3 files in it to the CD as Data. When I pop in the CD, it tells me CD Error. Is there something that I need to change? Please Help!! Oh, I just got my car last week. Thank you very much.

You need CD burning software such as roxio toast.
There's an MP3 option for burning music CD's, most CD burning software should have this option. I burned a few and they worked fine on my non idrive Logic 7 system.

I also cannot get the track names to remain displayed on the radio. If I select "List" I can see all of the correct file names with the current track highlighed. But it will not advance to the when the next track begins to play. If I select title out of the list menu, then I can see all of the information from the current track. However, when the next song comes on all I see is "information unavailable" Also, if your music is not all in mp3 format, then iTunes will not convert them to make a mp3 cd. As for sound, mine sounded okay. The biggest problem is the quality of the initial rip. |

Rename your files....or sort them by size instead of name in the folder

I convert everything from a CD in iTunes first, the tracks should import with the song names, if they dont you should name them. If your on a mac all your iTunes songs are located in the music folder inside your home folder, i dont know where they're kept on a PC. You can simply drag and drop the songs or the folders containing the songs into Toast and the track names will stay intact, just make sure to click on new disk and make sure you drag everything into that one icon. Its called My Disk in my attachment.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5627 If you have a Mac, I think you can use the Roxio Toast software, but you would think that your Mac would have come with some software to do this. http://www.roxio.com/en/products/toast/index.jhtml |

thanks for the info. It's a real pain to have to rename all of the songs. There should be a way to do it automatically (but I haven't found it). And about the song names: the car knows the song name and the artist, but it only displays it when I select "list" then "title". When the next song comes on it say unknown. but the car clearly can read the tags. I'll try the suggestion of using the older tag format and report back.

Converting the Tags to 1.2 solved the display problem--cool!!!
I still cannot find an easy way to have the songs played in a coherent order. Renaming would certainly work and is probably what I'll end-up doing. The larger problem is that most of my music is already in m4a format which will require conversion..... I have a converter program but I'm lazy... such problems... |

I ripped my CD into WMA (windows media audio) using media Player. WMA is supposed to be better than mp3 and if you are connected to internet while ripping media player will retrieve all info about CD, name, singer, productor, songs title....
Even at the lowest quality sound great.... 35 CD into one!!!!!!! Cheers... |

Also I thought that if you are using Itunes, to convert to MP3, all you had to do was select the song or songs and then right click and select convert to MP3. |

in Mac OS X, you need no extra software. when you pop in a blank CD, the system asks you what you want to do. if you just open the Finder, it will mount the CD for you there and you can then just drag-and-drop your MP3s on it. after you're done, just press the Burn button, choose a title for the CD, and there you go. i've done a few time with a few different mediums (CD-R, CD-RW) and works flawlessly for me. the car has absolutely no problems playing the MP3s back.

Okay, thanks for all of the comments.
Here is the process that I worked out (based on everyone's suggestions) on a Mac for making MP3 CDs that play in order and have all of the correct song infomation. 1) In iTunes, select in the preference, advanced, that you want to import and burn in MP3 format 2) Select the songs that you want by highlighting or placing in a playlist. 3) Select "Convert to MP3" If the importation preference is not set to MP3, this will not be an option. 4) Select "Convert Tags" to 1.1 5) Generate a playlist of the songs to be burned. An easy way to do this is with the "Smart Playlist" feature. The option of "Kind" contains "MPEG" will select only the MP3 formatted music 6) Burn the CD and enjoy. |

How about the folder structure? Somehow, my mp3 CD doesn't have any folder structure; all songs are in the 'root' folder.. Does iTunes automatically generate folder as you add songs to a playlist? that's what I did.. Am I missing something here??
