INPA comm error with Z4 DSC module - wants MK60, but finds DSC_85

Trying to access the DSC MK60 with INPA. I know the DSC, my cable and communicatino works since I can read/write VOs from it using NCS Expert, but INPA keeps complaining that it can't find DSC_MK60, but instead "found DSC_85, program stopping." I do have a DSC/Brake dash light lit and want to read the codes.

I noticed DSC_85.ipo is not in the SGDAT folder, and suspect this missing file is my issue. I looked everywhere and cannot find it, even with newer INPA installations.

Has anyone successfully communicated with INPA to their DSC? Can you check if you have DSC_85.ipo file? I believe that is what I'm missing...

DSC_85 is a DSC MK60 E5 used in the Z4, amongst other chassis'.

The INPA script DSCMK60.IPO supports that DSC variant.

Ok, since it does/should support it, what else would case the INPA error listed above? I own a 2007 E86 3.0si.

When doing an identification read in INPA, I get:
Control Unit: Dynamic Stability Control
ECU: D_ABSKWP
JobStatus: OKAY
PN: 6769162
Supplier: Continental Teves

I've tried INPA 5.01 and 5.02, same situation...

EDIT: I found a newer DSCMK60.IPO file on the internet, replaced mine in the SGDAT, and looks like I got it to communicate! Unfortunately, it is heavy German. Would you happen to have an english variant handy?

The error was caused by running an INPA script which does not support your DSC variant. The INPA script determined that the SGBD for your DSC module is DSC_85 instead of DSC_MK60 which it supports/expected.

The INPA script DSCMK60.IPO version 2.00 from INPA 5.02 is an English language script and supports both SGBDs (DSC_85 and DSC_MK60.)

Version 2.10 from INPA for F-Series is a German language script. It's newer and thus may contain bug fixes and/or enhanced functionality.

Version 2.00 can be extracted from INPA 5.02. I include a download link in my DIY thread(s):

Thank you for the link, although i have v5.02 on a CD, and in that SGDAT folder, no .IPO files with DSC were found (oddly enough).

Tried downloading the file v5.02 in your link and google chrome prevents me from downloading due to a virus of sorts.

Also not sure I want to install v5.02 all over again, would be nice to just get that one file and call it a day!

Yeah, that's an issue with sources that haven't been vetted by someone with the requisite expertise. You really don't know what you have or where it came from. It may have been slapped together haphazardly and/or perhaps incomplete.

This is addressed in the Windows 10 DIY:

If you are using the Firefox browser, you may receive a warning similar to the one below. Don't panic.

Per Norton Safe Web (https://safeweb.norton.com/), six files on the site were found to be infected. INPA 5.0.2 is not amongst them:
Ignore the warning, or use a different browser that will allow you to ignore the warning.

FWIW, I would install VirtualBox, load Windows on a VM temporarily, and install INPA 5.0.2 to grab the scripts.
