SSTT question

Does the SSTT decrease engine life? 40hp is a great increase for a plug/play mod - does anyone have any input on longterm issues?

I think the most honest answer is that nobody really knows. SO many different factors go into engine life that it would be nearly impossible to answer. By far the most damaging thing we do to our cars is start them in the morning. Those initial 6-10 seconds of running with no oil is brutal.

Any time you increase a car's power (be it via SSTT, JB, Procede, whatever) you increase strain on internal components. Whether or not that will ultimately lead to a decrease in engine life is anybodies guess.

Ask this...how often are you at max boost and WOT? If it is not that often, a tune should have minimal impact on longevity.

As with any tuned car (and also stock of course

) pay attention to the oil temp. before flooring the pedal in the morning; on the other hand give the engine some time to cool down after a hard drive.

Also make sure to run high quality high octane gas. Control frequently, whether your car has enough oil and change the oil regularly.

This and a tune from a high rep. company (like split) should work out just fine; it sure did with my last five modified cars
