I was driving to work this morning and passed a speed shop I hadn't noticed before, so I stopped in and it turns out they sell race fuel by the gallon. It was expensive so I just put in 1/4 tank, but wheeee that was fun! It averaged out to just about 96 octane, and the car really scoots with that stuff. It was worth the extra $20.

Unless the car is tuned, and it's really hot outside AND you don't usually use premium - I don't think it did much at all.

The only reason I bothered with E85 was detonation resistance on a hot day... which it ended up being a cooler day when I dynoed.

I have no doubts whatsoever that it made a difference. I run 93 and the race fuel was 104, it mixed to about 96 I'd say, and my car definitely doesn't scoot like that normally. It was fun give it a try with half a tank full and you won't doubt it I promise.

I'm not so sure, I guess it's possible the DME moved off the crappy gas ignition maps and pulled more data from the Ron 98 ignition maps. This would make the car feel better.

Well I'm running AA 93 octane tune so maybe that helped. I'm pretty sensitive to changes in the car. Not sure it would be a linear effect up to 104 octane though.
