Stage 1 complete or V2+other exhaust, warranty question
Hi everyone. This forum provides so much great info., I dont really post much but I read and search this forum a lot. Anyways I have some specific questions that I haven't been very successful in figuring out for myself:
I ordered the V2 PROcede for my E90 335i 07, so for those that have the V2, is it better to have the Vishnu exhaust to complete the Stage 1 or is different brands OK too (regarding maps, personal experience, etc.)? I love the look of quad exhaust and some other companies are of interest of mine but if the car will perform better with stage 1 complete vs V2 + other exhaust then I'll go with the Vishnu. I am very interested in an aftermarket exhaust but like others, have questions on how it affects the new car limited warranty. What warranty issues have you guys had with taking your 335i w/ exhaust mod to the dealership? I have heard just the exhaust warranty is void, that via the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act nothing is really in jeopardy (except for obviously the exhaust being covered by BMW), that it varies state to state (I'm in Maryland), and that it may void the warranty completely (as I know we all take that chance every time we mod). Was wondering what the general concensus was. I have a jet black 335 and am in the process of blacking it out and adding some mods, again your guys questions and posts and comments are really, really helpful to probably the countless thousands of people like me that cruise this forum for information on everything related to E90/E92's. Thanks! |

You know, I was about to go off on you about not searching, then I saw your location. How's Ramadi? I was there for a year too.
As far as the warranty goes, they can only void your warranty if they prove that your mod caused the failure or problem. An exhaust I wouldnt worry about. That V2 is what worries people. Actually any tuning device. Its on you whether you leave it or remove it before taking it to the dealership. Oh and you can use other exhausts. Its not like Vishnu's exhaust is special or anything. Just what they came up with.

Yah I have to change that now, was there Jan 06 to Feb 07 (w/ 1st AD 1 BCT, how bout you? I see you're in Georgia, Fort G.?).
I searched for a bit about it but it seemed like a lot of people had different opinions regarding the warranty issue. Thanks for the .02c on the V2 and warranty concerns. |

Other than the cool factor and sound of the exhaust...I'm not sure you really get a whole lot from the upgrade. The stock exhaust and intakes seem to breath very well and BMW has done a fine job in Not bottle necking the Engine. Most of the tuners believe that the turbos are about maxed out on the V2 and adding down pipes, exhaust, and intakes have not added very many HP's. However, the sound must be very-nice. $4K for 30hp is not very prudent in my book. I'm happy with the V2 and the power is amazing. You'll walk many cars with a BMW sleeper. Take the 4K and buy some bad ass BBS wheels and suspension.

are you talking about Vishnu Stage 1 for 4k? Actually, I only paid 3k +$150 to install the exhaust.. but you don't gain only 20 rwhp.. you gain the exhaust plus the Procede v2.. The numbers are probably 350 rwhp / 365 rwtq.. so that's about a gain of +85 rwhp / +92 rwtq for 3k...

a lot at 2k-3k... if I use 'DS' mode it is much better actually, once I pass the 3k mark.. it is much better and like regular exhaust.. so basically just do a good acceleration at the beginning to get over 3k, then everything is good.. It is pretty loud at 2k-3k, (even with the music on)... but I do recommend it.. it looks a lot bigger than stock

Anyways, if you do get an exhaust, dont spend more than $1500. No reason in the world to spend $3k+ on one. Better things you could spend your money on.

Dont worry I didn't, got the Borla catback.
I never thought I would be happy about fraud, my CC alerted me that I had basically been ripped off $100 from some strange company from Dubai. They also asked if I authorized the recent purchases of the V2, Borla exhaust, UR CAI, EX-M1's w/ F1's, Blackline tail lights, and the range of things I didnt think existed that I could buy to mod my baby (I want to black it out). So I had to shut down the CC because of the fraud and save myself from going car poor. Thank God for your guys DIY posts, lovely vendor drama, and play-by-play of everything related to V2! When I return to the states I'll have a plan of action to tackle these mods. I'm going to catalog everything and make the DIY for Noobs version as I will likely be reinventing the wheel attempting to do these DIYs! Deuces |

just to reconfirm.. the $3k was for both the Procede ($1500, including tax) and the exhaust.. so it was just like you said, $1500 for the exhaust..
