INPA is one of the software used for coding.
If you wanna jump in to it, you'll need a cable and a laptop.
For the cable, you need this cable.
Don't look for something else.
I first thought $100 is too much and bought some cheap cables on amazon and eBay only to waste money (and a lot of time for trouble shooting).

The rest is very well explained in this website

There's some learning curve but it's totally worth it.

Supermoon,

Thanks for the reply and information. It sounds interesting and I'll have to check it out and see if I can get it going.

Talk to Alex at alpinemss.com. He can do it remotely for you. He did mine and it worked great. Requires a Windows laptop, wired or strong wifi internet signal at your car, and a special cable he sends you to connect your laptop to the OBD port of your car.

This flash is made for the 6AT in the e90. If you're trying to flash your F30 transmission then it's not going to work. The F30 already comes with pretty good transmission software IMO.

I had on my 2011 e92 , tried it for about 4 months.
i had the tachometer issue when i first installed it, i had to upgrade my
DME to fix the issue. i do like it when i shift manually , but I DONT LIKE IT ON D.
the car feels heavy 40mph/6th gear.
my car is tuned Jb4.
i went back to stock flash. and by the way its easy to flash it on your own.

I believe it does, my car always takes off in 1st gear in D or DS mode with the Alpina Flash. Like others have said D with this Flash makes the car feel like a bit of a dog... I find myself using D only when i have the Wife and/or Kids in the car and i know i'm not going to be doing any spirited driving at all. It makes the car feel very refined but sluggish. I rarely use DS unless i'm going WOT and don't want to shift manually (WHY? ), the car seems to hang on to the gears way too long for my taste to use it in regular driving.

Manual Mode is what this flash was made for, and it is FANTASTIC

I agree with D.I.P. for the most part. The only thing I don't like about it is that in my car M mode does not always operate as a fully manual mode. 99% of the time it is awesome and I love it. But it will automatically downshift from 3rd to 2nd and sometimes even from 2nd to 1st when decelerating sharply, like when approaching a stop sign or a corner. This sometimes puts me in a lower gear than I thought I was in when I accelerate after the turn. For example I might be driving along in M mode in 3rd gear then downshift to 2nd to make a turn. The car senses the deceleration and downshifts to 2nd automatically without me realizing it, and at the same time I hit the left paddle, so I end up in 1st gear instead of 2nd, and then I over rev when I accelerate after the turn. Same thing happens on hairpin turns sometimes, which messes me up momentarily. Does that ever happen to anyone else out there with the Alpina flash?

So I just got my cable and CD in the mail for my PPK and Alpina flash so hopefully I'l have some input soon also.

I just also got my JB4 Stg 1 and will try install that at lunch. need to grap some zip ties and on my car there is no way to have this go under the cowl for the engine bay. 2011 335XI sedan. Was just out looking at things in the cold LOL, 22 deg here today

Yes this happens to me as well, its the only annoying part of the Auto Transmission on this car i wish there was a way to disable this function as it can be somewhat dangerous if you don't know to expect it. I don't think this is an issue with the Alpine Flash itself, i think the downshifting is inherent to the Trans itself.

Get the Alpina Flash, its my favorite mod for this platform. Cheap and makes a HUGE difference in driving your car. I drive in manual 99%+ of the time and the shifts are super crisp, and way more responsive than the normal TCU software

So just had mine done this morning along with the PPK and all I can say it the best $$ spent a mod. The shifts are supper crips, The rev matching is nice( missed this as my G had it) the small pops I get from the PPK are nice and the throttle responses is great. Again something I was missing from my G. The car almost feels like a drive by wire, the electric throttles are usually lazy :/.
Props to Joe@topgearsolutions for sure! He was great this morning!

Well to be fair, if it didn't downshift it would stall the motor

The way I avoid this issue is just to downshift a little sooner, I usually click it at about 2kRPM. You get a nice satisfying exhaust burble if you have the PPK.
