I did wipe the area and the back of the spoiler with alcohol first. You'll notice that the back of the spoiler has a lot of dirt after wiping it, specially after the paint process.

My brother in law is and autobody tech. He has previosly installed spoilers on my cars using only the 3M double sided tape. He recommends wiping the area with rubbing alcohol to remove wax, If you are really anal about it , you can use toluene to remove the wax. If you are applying the spoiler to an E92, it helps to have an extra pair of hands to help position the spoiler. Then tape the spoiler to the trunk lid with 8-10 masking tape strips. Take your fingernail or a razor knife and slice the tape at the junction of the spoiler and trunk lid and remove the spoiler. Slice the 3m tape in the middle and pull the backing away about 6" from both sides of the center. Position the spoiler in the middle of the trunk and line up the center tape strip. Continue aligning the spoiler with the tape strips on one side pulling more of the paper backing off as you go. Now do the other side and you are finished.
