Uninstall Tune Prior to Service?
I just bought a 2011 335i and put a Cobb Stage 1 ECU tune on it the very next day. I am about to have some work done on it that will most likely result in the Valvetronic motor being replaced. (Car has the same clicking sound upon unlock as this guy: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1083499.)
My question is: Should I uninstall the Cobb tune prior to taking the car to the repair shop? Context: The Valvetronic problem was diagnosed during the PPI, at which point the tech said that the diagnostic manual's first recommended step is to check for a software upgrade. Not sure if that's at the level of the ECU? The shop doing the work is the service center for the local used car dealer that sold me the car. I will make sure that the technician in question is a certified BMW specialist. But in any case, it's not a warranty repair, and it's not a BMW dealer doing the work. |

Ha that's my thread, and yes you should uninstall it. They will have to do some diagnostic work with resetting adaptations, so would be a good idea to be stock flash.

Uninstall it.
It's honestly impossible to tell if your dealer will be okay with the mods or not. Some are cool and might call you after they diagnose a problem and tell you to return the car to stock if it's related to the repair. And others might blacklist your vin and report you to BMW NA. Either way it's not worth the risk when it's something that could be easily avoidable.
