Coding angel eyes

My 07 E90 has the FRM1 module so does not have the capability of turning AE on as DRLs. I have been looking at FRM2 vs FRM3 on eBay. Any experience buying used parts there? Anyone know the specific differences between frm2 and frm3?

FRM3 will give you 'follow me home' lights. Can't think of much else to be honest.

I'm very new to E90 coding. Can you please explain to me what the differences are between FRM1, 2, and 3 from a coding perspective. And I apologize for the ignorance, but what are "follow me home" lights?

I don't know all the difference,

FRM2 give 'welcome lights' - Lights on when unlocking.

FRM3 gives 'welcome lights' + 'follow me home' - lights stay on for a certain period after locking car.

Within each FRM is many different versions.

LED - Basic Halogen lights
XE - XENON headlights
AHL - Adaptive Headlights
MAX Brose - Everything

Thanks for the info.

If I were to pick up the appropriate FRM2 or 3, am I correct in understanding it can be properly coded remotely?

Ha, got ya. I'll keep both that and you in mind if and/or when I decide to upgrade my FRM.

In the meantime, can you PM me info as to how that works, pricing, and what kinds of things you can remotely code in an '06 330i? Thanks.

If you want stuff remote coded you'll actually need:

1. Laptop
2. BMW Standard Tools installed and working
3. Recent Daten files
4. Suitable cable: DCAN USB or ICOM.

Ideally you'll have a battery charger / power supply to prevent voltage fluctuation damaging the modules when coding. FRM3 is particularly sensitive to this FYI.

Lots of people offer free coding assistance via teamviewer on this forum.

PM sent, and here's the link that describes the process and lists possible options for your car.
