Lowering springs for E91 320D?
Guys, I am looking to drop my Msport 320d down a little lower. I don't want to go silly low on coilovers, so just looking for 30mm or so as my drive to work involves the odd speed hump etc.
Can anyone recommend a set that don't break the bank. |

i can't understand why people want to lower them further? I think they're a pretty low car to begin with!

Eibachs are good, if you can stretch the budget a bit further then the Bilstein b12 kit (includes Eibach springs) is pretty much fit-and-forget and less crashy than stock m-sport dampers.
Totally transformed my SE!

I've got Apex springs on my 335i. Inexpensive & nice flat cornering, have had them for 3 years now & they are fine. You do feel the bumps though specially with 19s

I struggled to get my trolley jack under mine and i'm forever scraping the bottom over aggressive speed bumps. I've got the 17" wheels though, so maybe that's why..or i'm a fat b*****d!

Yes it is
If like me you just want your car to sit bit lower & your not regularly track daying your car apex springs with oem shocks is an inexpensive way of nicely lowering your car. I paid £140 for the springs 3 years ago & once the car had settled down after a week & then having a geo I was & still am very happy with the look & ride. It sharpended up the handling, reduced body roll & now corners nice & flat. You do feel the bumps though, but then you do with any lowered bmw especially if it's on 19s. I would suggest if you do change the springs it's worth replacing the front top mounts & Spring seats. Eibach, H&R, Apex the choice is yours. They all have to meet the same approvals, are made on the same machine by the same people

As you said its down to personal choice, the reason I went with apex is they are inexpensive & do the job, I also had them put on my e36 328i after one of the original m-tec springs snapped

H&R offer a more aggressive drop and ride. They look great but I was always catching my front bumper in car parks. Eibach offer a more conservative drop and I prefer the ride.
As mentioned above the Bilstein B12 kit is a great setup. You could upgrade your springs to Eibach and then do the dampers later when they become end of life - this is what i plan to do. |

I changed to Eibach Sportlines, apparently around a 50mm drop. Looked good with 19s and similar ride quality to msport springs
