Adaptive Headlight Issue
Not sure if this is the right area to post but....
I have a 2012 335XI that i bought rebuilt. the adaptive headlights are driving me nuts. On start up they do go up down side to side to level but they level like pointing down. So i turned the screws to level them, drive like that a few days then they start pointing sky high. Level them again, few days later they drop down again. So I got tired of this, started driving them with pointing down, some days they auto level to the correct height, some days as im driving after 10-15 mins i seem the start trying to level them selves like bounce up and down and eventually settle where they should be. What can it be? |

Make sure the headlight level sensor is clipped in properly on the front driver's side control arm. Pretty sure there's another on the rear control arm too.

If variable "light distribution decoding" is not enabled, the lights will point about 2-3 degrees further down at slower speeds.
If you adjust the headlights trying to compensate for this, they may end up pointing high when driving normally and seem to move up and down incorrectly. |
