Nice Car!

I was cleaning my car yesterday and a guy who lives near me came over and said "Hey, nice car. Is that the one that has the seat belt that slides towards you when you get in?"

I felt a bit stupid and even though he came over to me I felt like I was boasting a little.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

yeah, usually when i turn up to pick up mates and there with friends. They all love the car..

some guys pretend it aint nothing others are like WOW.

Young ladies tend to be a bit over enthusiastic i find. But thats all good for me

I've had a few "nice car mate" comments which is always appreciated!!

Young lads always seem to want to tell me stories of how a 335d beat their mates Astra turbo (or other similar car)....."yep cheers for that, anyway got to go!!"

With the seat belt thing it's just a shame that some Merc CLK's have had a similar feature for a few years now!!

Had a grilling by a bloke up the street who drives Audi's, couldn't make up his mind whether to change to BMW.

Had a few thumbs up and big smiles, also some scowls - can't think why

It was the old E-class Coupe (can't remember the W number for it).

Bit of a classic now, as one of the last properly built Mercs, but a right of a barge to drive

Has your wife ever had any aggressive reactions? I've had loads, especially when you blow the buggers off or really push them around bends 'cos' they have f/a knowledge of how to keep the car squat

Oh yeah, they go nuts and then try and overtake immediately. She reckons those with smaller engines are the worst, so if they get ancy she just floors it and leaves them cursing in her wake She's not an aggressive driver at all but she can't resist it. She has been known to let them past then zip past them later smiling sweetly at them, which is just cruel.

Get a lot of comments, especially at petrol stations, etc..

Also often get admiring glances at traffic lights, etc (the car not me unfortunately ) - Also had kids shouting 'Like yer car mate' when the top has been down

It is a nice feeling walking back to it on the car park and seeing people stare at it/in it as they wander past.

Prob helps being bright red! Not many red 'verts around (except crimsonE93 ) so kinda stands out!

Unfortunately a lot of the rest of the comments are pi$$ take down my local boozer when it has 'broken' again and in the garage, although touch wood that phase in it's life seems to be over!

How did you feel about that? Were you in the passanger seat or did you let her take it out by herself.

I got a bit of abuse when I had my Boxster last year. Roof down in the summer chav kids shout W****R and similar when you drive through towns and reps at petrol stations give you the evils... no big deal I did not buy it for them I brought it for me.

With my 3er I have been asked by a couple of 330d drivers at petrol stations what its like but its all good banter.

I think she will do a swap with you for her Fiestwah!

You can say she has damaged the alloys talking it up to 90mph from standstill and she owes you a new wheel.
