I don't really NEED them sitting back there... Can we use that space for anything? Anyone else taken them off and using that space for something?

Requires custom pipes back there to wrap around the tire. I have a thread I'll add in but someone else feel free to paste it in. I struggle to do this when posting from my phone.

Why not use for water/methanol injection?

I was thinking why not tap it into the fuel tank and get some extra range!!!

Not sure about specs required to store fuel vs a non flammable DEF.

??? Not sure either. ..

Trucks do it in the bed with 20, 40 and even 60 gallon tanks.. and they also make around a 5 gallon tank to go in the vw in place of the spare tire in the trunk?? That's inside the car.. This is under..

At the end of the day who will know

True. I'd think fuel tanks are built to different impact specifications and not sure it'd be worth the risk. Maybe you could find a fuel cell small enough to fit.

Id really like to see a cover plate/diffuser marketed for the DEF tank location to cover up the sail that seems to be created when the DEF tanks and OEM mufflers are removed.

Yes, it does create a sail.
