Most people will suggest that you bargain from invoice up, rather than MSRP down. A good rule of thumb is that ED prices are generally 7% less than their U.S. equivalents, so just multiply the U.S. price by 0.93 to get the ED price. Remember that the ED discount only applies to the base price of the car- options are the same price no matter where you take delivery. So, if you want to know the ED invoice price of your car, either look at the pricing sheets that are available on this forum, or get the base U.S. delivery invoice price for the model you want, and multiply by 0.93. Then add in the invoice price for the options you want (which will be the same price for US and European delivery). That will basically get you to the ED invoice price of your car. Add in $600-$1200 for dealer profit (depending on model and local market conditions), and you have your target price.

Invoice for the options are the same for both US and ED,the big difference is in the base price.USMSRP vs ED invoice is 6150 difference on a 335XI coupe.Local discounts will depend on what area of the country you're in.The market on coupes for us is strong,so the best savings is through ED.
You can buy from anyone in the country......... |

I went out to Manheim Auto Auction to get myself an S550. Saw a Montego Blue on Black 335i E90 6MT with SPORT with 8K miles. Loved the car, loved the color, loved the 6MT, and loved the TT idea:-) Bought it in about 3-4 minutes time. Saved myself about $17,000 vs the price of a new one and never regreted it:-) Love the car! And, along the way, saved myself about 40 grand off the price of a used S550 :-)
And now, just to get the tast for the savings, that was done last July!!!!!!!! :-)) |

If time is not against you, I would recommend you to order it, actually, I would recommend you to ED it, for the following reasons:
1) Augustina Beer 2) German Girls 3) Dutch Girls 4) Autobahn 5) Invoice price on your car thru ED 6) Welt Center

If you are a patient person and can't find exactly what you want on dealer lots, ordering one for US or European delivery is a good way to go. If you are not patient and you can find something very close to what you want on a dealer's lot, I'd go for it.
I'm not patient, but I had to order one because there weren't many 6MT cars on dealer lots. We couldn't locate a car in the western states that was close to what I wanted. But as others have said, waiting for weeks is torture. |

More noob questions here.
If you ED, how long does it take to get the car back (I'm on the west coast). Is it about a month? And if you are ED and leasing, I assume you start making payments on the day you pick up your car. So does this mean you're making payments even while the car is in transport? Thanks. |

This thread has some great information.. I'm also considering ED. One month of vacation time stored up and the possibility to take a week off coming up next month..... Sounds tempting.
