Unhappy No Heating - 07 E92 335i Auto

Hi,

Been sitting on this one for a while but i need to fix this, i was saved my E92 M3 this winter! But i miss the 335i. Dam you heating!!!

Even when the car is hot after a drive there is still no heat at all. The only time you do get heat is after a long drive then standing still for 5-10mins on idle; its like magic! Then you pull off again and its gone cold!

I dont have any error codes with ISTA nor any leaks. Pump works A.O.K and no overheating. Both pipes from the firewall ( Heater core ingree/egress ) remain cold - unless i idle after a good run.

So.... is this likey to be my tstat gone bad and if so why no error code? And to add to it as a bonus QandA wat is the sensor doing on the tstat?

Appreaciate the read and help - All suggestions are welcome

Thanks!

Jack

I had similar to that issue in my previous Dodge lol. In my case it was a bad tstat. Assuming you have no air bubbles in your coolant system it is a bit strange that you get no codes. I mean there's just water pump/stat, piping/hoses, sufficient coolant without air bubbles, radiator/fan and a couple sensors - ther's not much else lol. Let's wait for someone more knowledgeable

P.S. Is your coolant temp norm? Does radiator fan come on and off? Have you checked by hand all pipes for hot/cold?

No no bubbles in the little black tank... If it helps also the 2 pipe from the core i can pinch with my thumb and finger as if theres no liquid cold/hot in the at all..

No Rad never comes on well i only notice if i had the batt disconnected but my M3 dose that too so i assume its a "thing"

Thanks for the input

Does give the symptoms that the thermostat has failed and by design, it is in the open position. Though some report having a code; my car showed none and I experienced the same conditions you had.
