WinKFP - DDE update - error 704

Hi,

I receive error "Error on determining the ZB number!" after typing my part number (8508711) in "Enter ZUSB" window. Any idea how to fix it? I use latest WinKFP 5.3.1 and SP-Daten v58 (also on v55 is the same). I have used Coding Tool to update SP-Daten.

Why are you manually choosing a ZUSB out of interest?

If your goal is to update a module, why not use comfort mode and let the program select the appropriate update from your chosen ECU family...

Go to realoem.com and type in the last 7 of vin. Navigate to engine electrical and see which version gives you a part number.

in ZUSB you should enter ZB, not the part number

check the ZB from UIF (in inpa its F3) and enter it, then it will pick up the family for you

or do per 808AWD325xi instructions

If you're trying to flash the DDE with the current ZB number, it won't be found in SP daten 60.0. You would need an older SP daten.

The latest ZB number for your DDE is 7810915.

The ECU family is DDE506.

Thank you,

How did you find out which is my last ZB number?

I found a way to find my ZB from UIF in the file 'DDE506.HIS'. This file contains all the ZB number from this Ecu family.

The DDE506.dat contains the new/recent ZB numbers.

The DDE506.HWH contains the history compatible hardware numbers for an Ecu family.

Now the thing is if i really want to see my old ZB number in Winkfp, can i just add it to the .DAT file and then Winkfp is able to see it???

When i enter your code "7810915" I can see a list with more codes.

7810915
7810916
7810917
7810918
7810919

So the last one wont be the Bigger one???

You're welcome.

The history file is not the proper method to determine the latest ZB number for a given module. It is strictly a chronological record of firmware releases and does not account for ECU hardware revisions, withdrawn releases, etc.

Best practice would be to use ISTA/P and generate a measures plan or WinKFP (Update ZUSB) to determine the latest recommended ZB number for a given module.

I don't believe that adding a record to the .DAT file will allow WinKFP to flash a particular firmware release. It may see it, but it will not flash it. Use WinKFP expert mode instead.

Good to know. Then i will use Update function in Winkfp and it will pick up the best file automatic.
The program can not make a mistake to put a different file to flash it?

Should I save some backup from Ncsexpert or some other settings before flash a Dde module???
What about the DDE-CAS calibration?? My cas has a different Vin on it,so I'm scared that after flashing it won't comunicate.
Should i Flash CAS too? They won't lose the secret code (ISN) thru they are comunicating???

they would not lose ISN
max you will need is sync of rolling code, easy with INPA
dont worry about VIN in AIF, thats not important,

you will be able to "default code" your module with ncsexpert expert profile
