Leaking washer fluid: need advice.
So in my three weeks of owning my 330i, I have had to replace a door lock actuator, a tpms sensor, and now something within the washer fluid system. Oh joy. So I got BMW of Monterey to comp the regulator, but I think my free repairs have now about run their course as the car was sold without a warranty. The washer fluid job is relatively easy so I'll tackle it myself, however I have 3 questions for you more experienced E90 owners. I'm replacing the headlight washer and windshield washer pumps, along with the resevoir just because I figure if I'm in there I might as well put the new parts in. My questions however are 1) are both pumps the same?, 2) do I need a reservoir with two openings for each pump, or is there simply a plug in a tank for a car without headlight washers?, and 3) Is it overkill to replace everything? Thanks for the help.

I think it is overkill. Mine is leaking too, from threads here it is likely just the filler neck has cracked so I will just replace it.
In my 35 years of driving I have never had a washer pump fail so I can't see a reason to pop for those. If one did I would just go to a junkyard. part # 61664419445 |

They are two separate pumps and are not the same size. I replaced both of mine earlier this year.
The reservoir has 2 holes, one for each pump. Not a hard job at all. Make sure you order a couple of the little plastic rivet to replace the ones that you remove from the inner fender liner. |

I'm going to pull the fuse on my headlight washers. They're worthless. Also in Cali, like you, OP.
On a side note, I do like that this car holds a full gallon of fluid! So much more handy |

ITs probably not your tank. The lower pump which is for your window, commonly gets a hair line crack in the base. I just fixed mine with some plastic epoxy. You can buy a new one off amazon for $7

Well, I took the liners off and checked out the reservoir and all the lines to the headlight washer and could not find a leak anywhere. Strange. I tried running all the pumps, but no luck.
It was dripping from the front bumper on the right so I was sure there would be an issue with the fittings or actuator for the washers, but its all dry now. I found a broken brake duct and repaired it with some JB Weld, so not a total waste of time. |

The rivets can be removed by pushing the centre pin all the way through, then remove the plug. The pins will fall down inside the fender so just shake it and probe around until they fall out. In my case I had to shift through a 1/2 pound of dirt and debris, but they were there. Or you can just get new ones.

1) Pumps are different
2) Tanks are different 3) Probably, but not terribly expensive to do so My windshield washer pump was causing the leaking. Replaced just that one pump with a new gasket/filter for both pumps. Tank was fine with no cracks.

It's funny because I'ved own my 328xi for a little north of a month, and I've just replaced my windshield washer pump, now it's time to replace the rear passenger side door lock actuator. If my tpms goes out, man that would be freaky
