Insurance WTF!!!
Last year I paid £525 and this year just started looking and I'm getting quotes of £825-£1000???
I'm 42 and have over 15 years ncd and have 1 accident in sept 2014 that was not my fault and all money claimed from the other side,my cars parked on a drive and no mods, can't understand this price??? I used to own until recently a mk2 RS focus with loads of mods declared and was only paying Around £500!! Can anyone recommend an insurance firm? |

Though not connected I've just insured a car I've bought and if I insured as of 1pm today it was going to cost '£271 by waiting for the policy to activate at midnight it worked out over the phone to be £49 cheaper I asked and the explaination I got to my mind was a bit odd.
Then as always there was the premium price itself, I was quoted one figure I questioned this as I was on a comparison site and my actual insurance company was with the level of cover I was after were the cheapest yet it differed a fair bit from the quote I was given over the phone as always I disclosed that I was as I spoke to them on this comparasion site and therefore they can see the cars being searched and I made it clear I was looking for a fair quote my attitude is simple they either want my business or don't as there were other company's to chose from. By offering a quote on line it's fair to say there was scope to do a deal (though it's not the cheapest quote I'm after its the right quote with the right cover) needless to say after 20 minutes of haggling I got a better deal than the on line quote and a better deal than quoted phone quote but it still hinged on the policy activating at midnight and to me that's weird but it was worth it. What I did pull out I suppose from the conversation is that there were some searching questions re convictions, accidents I dare say as a result they've been hit hard and it's effecting premiums perhaps more than it used too and it would seem that regardless of fault if an accident takes place it would appear it effects your premium as this was stated verbally in the summery I was given which is totally wrong IMO. |

I noticed a significant increase in policy since last year, the only difference from last years declarations being that I have an EXTRA year of NCB! In the end I had to settle with a quote which was £3 cheaper than the previous years.

I'm quite surprised tbh as that is a hefty increase if nothing has changed from previous year. It could be postcode driven if suddenly there is a huge increase of stolen vehicle claims for example from the area, or maybe worth questioning your current insurer as to why the increase. There maybe something being held against you for some unknown reason.
Even non-fault accidents are now held against you unfortunately but as yours was in 2014 then it would have already had an effect on your premium last year.

I renewed my insurance a few weeks ago and the quotes I was getting were around £200 more than the quotes just a few months ago. I eventually got a decent price but asked the insurer what was going on and apparently some tax has been raised on insurance premiums which will affect everyone.

Everyones has gone up this year, despite the insurers admitting the amount of claims have gone down in the last 5 years, and that they are now paying out far less on Solicitors costs of claims from April 2013.
Basically, they are shafting everyone. Its something you HAVE to pay, so they can justify charging. Its a joke. I recommend trying a specialist, like Sky, Adrian Flux or Greenlight. |

My insurance was cheaper putting the missus down as the main driver & her occupation as housewife
Any claim even a non fault will increase your premium. They will also take into account any incident you report to them even if no claim is actually made
