Which version were you using? the new version can let you read codes but not write any. ( anyways with my dongle it says its not the branded one so it wont let me)

So did I, they replied this "Whatever worked with your adapter before 100% still works without problems. All supported functions with any previous adapter are still supported with that adapter. However, it my well be that new advanced functions were added to the app for free which may require our adapter since we cannot limit the app to other adapters that are just not capable" What bull

I got the same canned reply and edited my review to note that the functionality actually decreased with the new version both because you cannot "remember" the vehicle model and because you can do monitoring and logging but you can't do coding.

The Carly guy is a jerk. My friend bought it last year, had it working and then he pulled the adapter issue. Fine, acceptable according to his BS technical reasons (can't do CAS or DPF with generic now).

But when his phone broke, he tried to transfer the license and this is where the Carly guy showed his true colors of paranoia. He refused to allow this and that was what got him to figure out ISTA-D and other programming through the laptop.

Carly is a nice program, but the support and paranoid copy protection does exactly what happens with restrictive games (denuvo based copy protection)- it hurts the people who buy the game legally and creates a bigger market to bypass it.

ok so, i installed in my new phone and i think i figured out why it wasnt working on a generic obd2 dongle. i think the read speed was too high. i set it to slow and it worked fine this morning. didbt get a message saying i needed the carly dongle.

What dongle are you using?

I use this one A konnwei kw903.
Make sure if you use torque to set the scantool.net power savings. It will put it to low power mode when you exit torque, no need to power it off by the button then.

In Carly, I can't code idrive or DPF, but the rest is ok. Those are specifically locked down to the carly adapter. The guy locked people out and will probably do it again with later versions.

I got the same canned reply. Wish I could upload screenshots in those reviews. I've now got TestO for logging and BMW standard tools for coding and diagnostics, so no need for the Carly that will just take more of my money as it develops further.

though it only works for basic codes, i would of liked to code my wipers to only go 3 times not 4 when i use the jets but the dongle isnt fast enough for that. I did code the digital speedo and most other things with it.
